Detailed Write-up

Started by Selvaraj some thirty years back, Selvam Tea Stall has remained the same even after his demise. Presently run by Selvaraj’s wife and her sister’s son, the magic of their Paripuvada has not changed one bit. Famous for snacks dishes they serve, this small thattukada is a must visit if you are anywhere near ThrissurCollectorate area. This little shop is located in the middle of various similar shops, but distinguishable with a small name board and the rush of their customers. While coming from Ayyanthole to Guruvayur, you will have to turn to Civil Lane Road, when you see Collectorate. Even though they do not have parking area of their own, you can park on the roadside at Civil Lane Road and visit this place.

Available from 11 am onwards, Paripuvada from this place is best had when it is hot and crispy. Concentrating only on snacks dishes alone they serve varieties of dishes like Uzhunnuvada, Pazhampori, Ullivada, Bhajji, Pappadavada, and Bonda, which are all worth a try.

Most of the patrons of this shop are either employees who work at Collectorate or nearby government offices and students from nearby collages and schools. So the rush hours at this place is during evening when the offices and schools leave. Lots of customers also takes their dishes as parcels too.

They have a very small dining area where you can sit and have your dishes but during their rush hours its best to have standing out than trying to sit down. All the dishes are prepared in front of the patrons and served hot and they close down once the items get over. This location and the distinguishable taste of their dishes is the main reason for their success in the midst of many other snack places.
