Hotel Pathans is one of the few hotels in Kerala that can claim the legacy of running successfullyfor more than 100 years. The restaurant that was originally started by Brahmins, later changed hands of several owners but maintained its vegetarian menu and the quality of food. The hotel still draws in a large number of famous patrons who prefer to have food from here when they are in Thrissur.

The restaurant functions from the first floor of a building complex. You can park your vehicle at the basement and entrance of the complex. For those who can’t climb up the stairs, lift too is available for their convenience. There is a lounge and reception which also acts as the cash counter of the restaurant.

Hotel Pathans has one big dining hall along with an air-conditioned family area. Its clean and brightly lit ambience with standard furnishing that comprises steel chairs and steel tables with granite tops, give this place an appeal of a decent family restaurant.

The ground floor houses a sweets counter where almost all types of fresh sweets are available-‘Laddu’ and ‘Bhadhusha’being the most popular ones.The much acclaimed dishes of this restaurant are ‘Vegetarian Meals’ and other breakfast items. Afternoon time witnesses a huge rush here due to one reason only- ‘Meals’ that are served with three dishes and three types of curries along with pickle and ‘Uperi’ and winded up with a small steel bowl of delicious ‘Payasam’.

‘Masala Dosa’ served with just sambar and chutney, has an oily masala that tastes bit salty. This dish might leave you little disappointed considering its price. On the other hand, ‘Thairu Vada’with sweet curd has an amazing taste. ‘Poori Masala’is served in a set of three small ‘Poories’ with masala and sambarthat is prepared using coconut and dal.

Overall, Hotel Pathans located right at the heart of the city offers a good family dining experience with net and clean surrounding and tasty food. Swift service providedby efficient waiters is another plus point of this restaurant.
