Hi Portland! The Food Delivery Solidarity Project is a volunteer collaboration supporting women, femmes, and gender nonconforming activists in the Portland community via a meal delivery service.
The project has male identifying folks bringing locally cooked prepared meals and CSA farm veggies to support women, femmes, and gender nonconforming folks...people who do endless amounts of extra emotional, personal, social organizing and professional work fighting the patriarchal systems in our culture (not to mention typically making less $/hour).
The goal here is not some big revolutionary act, and certainly not to downplay the many other things men should be doing to challenge patriarchy. It's merely a little extra help for hard working activists who could benefit from delicious free food and, hopefully, a starting point for good conversations and community support from men to break down institutionalized sexism / inequality on the ground.
New Volunteers
We're always in search of people who want to volunteer to prepare a meal. We only require a one night commitment, but obviously long term interest is ideal. Please note that all volunteers are subject to a vetting process; do not bother applying if you're not up for that or have outstanding, unresolved conflicts in the community. Please check out the informational document below or reach out to us at pdxfoodproject@gmail.com for more information.
Donations
If you are interested in donating to help us support low-income men in being able to more fully participate in this project, please email pdxfoodproject@gmail.com for more information.
