Great graphic design is powered by great font selection. But picking great fonts is a challenge for most people. Luckily, Canva has made adding great fonts to your designs much easier. In this tutorial, our team of design experts will cover the best light fonts in Canva.

Light fonts, often referred to as thin or delicate fonts, are characterized by their subtle and slender letterforms. These fonts convey a sense of elegance, sophistication, and refinement. Here are some common characteristics of light fonts:

Why not just change it back to Calibri myself? I did. But I want the original setting where the page heading is in Calibri Light and the body text is in Calibri. As far as I'm aware, there can only be a different heading / body text font in the original default setting. If you change the default font once, it'll change both the heading and body fonts, and you can never make them different again.

I've also tried uninstalling Office, deleting everything Office related in Users/AppData, then reinstalling Office, but it still manages to restore my last font setting and not restore the original.

Is this a font that is a font collection? LightBurn does not yet support Font Collections, and the individual font would need to be renamed at a system level, or the other versions of that font deleted, so it defaults to the lato-light font style of the bunch.

I updated to fontawesome 6.0 pro as a kit plugin. I removed fontawesome 5 pro css and all the icons from 5 still work with the 6 kit but when I convert the icons to 6 all the light icons become thin instead of Light. I tried adding mappings but have had no luck. I contacted fontawesome and they said to set the font-weight for light to be 300 but it still shows font-weight as 200. I am on a mac.

Any suggestions?

Secondly, there are no convoluted licensing restrictions. All fonts in the Google Fonts catalog are open source and free to use in commercial projects. You can download or embed them on your site, and you can even use them in print projects.

While Google Fonts tend to be simple and perhaps not as flashy as some paid fonts, it certainly beats web-safe fonts that come preinstalled with major operating systems, the same fonts everyone has seen thousands of times before.

Open Sans Condensed is a highly legible font commissioned by Google and inspired by its predecessor Droid Sans. Google uses Open Sans on some of its websites and its print and web ads. Open Sans Condensed, its sister font here, also holds the thirteenth most popular spot on Google Fonts.

Montserrat is a sans-serif font from Julieta Ulanovsky, who lives in the eponymous Montserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires. With 18 different styles ranging from light to heavy, you have quite a lot of choice.

With 18 different styles, Raleway is another large-family sans-serif font, initially created by Matt McInerney. If you like Raleway and are looking for something unique, Raleway Dots offers similar styling with a dotted approach that can work for big headlines.

PT Sans was developed for the Public Types of Russian Federation and, as such, includes both Latin and Cyrillic characters. There are also several other fonts in the PT family, including some serif options.

Variable fonts are also starting to become popular and are supported by all modern browsers. These are awesome because it allows one font file to transform with different properties. Google Fonts has plenty of variable fonts to choose from, and you can even narrow down your search to those specifically.

You can use a tool like the Color Contrast Checker from WebAIM to see if your font colors pass the official recommendations. For example, you can see that the colors on our blog posts now passed the test. ?

Suppose you want to get a font onto your website. In that case, you have three options: installing a plugin such as Easy Google Fonts or Google Fonts Typography, using the Google Fonts API to upload the font to your site, or manually downloading it and hosting it on your website.

To ensure a better overall experience for your visitors, we recommend you follow best font practices such as limiting font weights, hosting fonts locally (if needed), and sticking to accessibility guidelines.

Light fonts seem elegant and nice, but that does not count for body text. At font size sizes between 14 to 20 px or smaller, it soon looks too delicate, making it straining on the eyes. Of course, this always depends on the exact typeface and color of your text. With our example here, Josefin Sans in font-weight 300 and gray seems way too thin.

When taking a look at the available weights of Josefin Sans, it can guess why Josh mad the body text so light. Because the regular weight looks way too dull and contrasting, destroying the overall airy impression his website makes.

But even with a sufficient weight, Josefin Sans is not ideal for body text. It is way too striking, while having an incredibly low x-height. This is why the text seems very small, even at 20 px font-size.

However, the mood of the page also shifted, because now the headings lost their elegance. They were so elegant because of that low x-height and the light weight. So why not keeping the best of both worlds?

Like Hello Fresh. The emails I get use way too light text, making them horrible to read. Even though the font size is quite large most of the time. So if anyone from Hello Fresh reads this, please, fix it.

100%, Baej! Also, Figma renders it differently, much smoother which is kinda misguiding. I use an average office monitor when I design, so that I see fonts perform there, not only on my glossy, flawless MacBook Pro retina display.

When you download the tarball for the current snapshot ( -fonts/mplus_outline_fonts/?view=tar) or check out these files via CVS the unpacked directory contains the Illustrator and EPS files, makefile template and scripts necessary to build the TTFs with fontforge.

Chivo is a grotesque sans serif font family that's an an indispensable ally to any designer. The strength of Chivo Black makes it ideal for highlights and headlines. Chivo Regular is perfect for combining with Chivo Black for continuous reading.

Helmet is a neo-grotesque display typeface, currently with a single font. It takes inspiration from Swiss classics like Helvetica and Univers but plays with proportions such as width and x-height to create a unique look and feel.

Work Sans is based loosely on early grotesque fonts. The regular weight and others in the middle of the family are optimized for on-screen text usage at medium-sizes (14px-48px) and can also be used in print design. The fonts closer to the extreme weights are designed more for display use both on the web and in print.

This morning I updated from 7.4.7 to 7.5.6. I forgot to close out LibreOffice, so I had to do so during mid update. I noticed that when it was replacing the fonts, the update slowed significantly, and then picked back up when it was finishing everything else. I restarted my computer, and when I opened up one of my old .docx files, I was greeted with a nasty surprise.

I uploaded the .docx file to Google Docs and it was readable, so the files were not corrupted. I reinstalled the entire Spectral font family without uninstalling it first, and it actually fixed it. Well, a little bit anyway.

I proceeded to completely uninstall both the Spectral and Spectral SC family from my computer, then reinstall both fonts. On my .odt files, it was fixed; all non-Latin characters were showing up as they were supposed to. However, whenever I opened a .docx file, the non-Latin characters would show up as the weird gibberish again. I then proceed to open the same .odt file that appeared to be fixed, and that too had reverted back to its weird punctuation/number gibberish. Whenever I opened an affected .docx file, the errors would reappear in previously fixed .odt files. I have noticed that this error only occurs with Spectral Light specifically, and not any other Spectral fonts.
