Folyo — Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 June 2026
This page covers two things for the Folyo Android app:
Privacy Policy — what data the app handles and where it goes.
Terms of Use & Disclaimer — the conditions under which you use the app, including important "as-is" and "not financial advice" notices.
By installing or using Folyo, you agree to both.
Privacy Policy
The short version
Folyo is a local-first app. Your portfolio — accounts, transactions, holdings, notes, and groups — is stored only on your device, in a private app database. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Folyo does not have a server, so your financial data is never uploaded to us — because there is no "us" to upload it to.
The only time anything leaves your device is when the app fetches prices and exchange rates from public financial services, and when you make an in-app purchase (handled by Google). Both are explained below.
Who is responsible
Folyo is an independent app published by Cutzer Studios — a one-person shop.
For privacy questions or requests, contact: cutzer.studios@gmail.com.
What is stored on your device
All of the following lives in Folyo's private local storage and never leaves your device unless you deliberately export or share it:
Broker accounts and portfolio groups you create
Transactions you enter or import (buys, sells, dividends, deposits, withdrawals, interest, fees, etc.)
Assets you track (symbols, names, asset types, currencies)
Computed holdings, balances, and history snapshots
App settings and preferences, including your Folyo Pro / supporter status flags
Uninstalling the app deletes this data permanently. We cannot recover it for you (see Data retention).
What we do not collect
No name, email, phone number, or account registration
No advertising identifiers
No analytics or usage tracking
No location data
No contacts, photos, or device identifiers
No selling or sharing of any data with third parties for marketing
When data leaves your device (third-party services)
To show current values, Folyo makes outbound requests to public, unauthenticated financial APIs. These requests are necessary for the app's core purpose. We do not send your identity — but, like any internet request, they include your device's IP address and the symbols/identifiers you are looking up, which the receiving service can see and log under its own policies:
Service: Yahoo Finance (query1/query2.finance.yahoo.com)
Purpose: Stock & ETF prices, search, history
What it can see: Your IP address; the tickers you query
Service: CoinGecko (api.coingecko.com)
Purpose: Cryptocurrency prices & search
What it can see: Your IP address; the coins you query
Service: Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.app)
Purpose: Currency exchange rates
What it can see: Your IP address; the currency pairs requested
These are third-party services with their own privacy policies, over which we have no control. Folyo sends them only the minimum needed to fetch a price or rate — never your transaction history, quantities, account names, or notes.
In-app purchases
Folyo Pro and the optional support tips are sold through Google Play Billing. The purchase, your payment details, and the transaction are handled entirely by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. Folyo never sees or stores your payment information. After a successful purchase, the app stores only a small local flag (e.g. "Pro unlocked", "supporter") on your device. Purchases are tied to your Google account by Google, which is what lets you restore them after a reinstall.
CSV files you import
When you import transactions, you pick a CSV file yourself using your device's file picker. Folyo reads that file on your device only, to create transactions locally. The file's contents are not uploaded anywhere. (Note: resolving the assets in an imported file may trigger the price/search lookups described above, using only the ticker symbols.)
Permissions
Folyo requests only what it needs to function — principally internet access (to fetch prices and exchange rates) and access to a file you choose (to read a CSV you import). It does not request access to your contacts, camera, location, or messages.
Data retention and deletion
Because all data is local, you are in full control:
To delete everything, use the in-app "delete data" option, or simply uninstall the app.
We hold no copy of your data and therefore cannot retain, restore, back up, or delete it on your behalf.
If you want a backup, use the app's export feature; the exported file is then yours to manage.
Children
Folyo is a general-audience finance utility not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). It does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change, and the current version will always be available at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in an app update where appropriate.
Terms of Use & Disclaimer
Please read these carefully — they explain the limits of what Folyo promises.
Provided "as is", with no warranty
Folyo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. You use the app at your own risk.
No guarantee of updates or continued availability
Folyo is an independently developed app. No future updates, fixes, features, or continued availability are guaranteed. The app may stop being maintained or updated at any time, without notice. Functionality that depends on external services may degrade or stop working even if the app itself is unchanged.
Reliance on third-party data sources
Prices, valuations, and exchange rates shown in Folyo come from free, unofficial, third-party services (Yahoo Finance, CoinGecko, Frankfurter). These services are outside our control and may:
change, restrict, rate-limit, or discontinue their access at any time;
return delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate data;
become temporarily or permanently unavailable.
If a data source breaks or changes, prices and valuations may be wrong, stale, or missing — through no fault of the app, and possibly without a fix being available. Do not treat displayed values as authoritative.
CSV import limitations
The CSV import feature depends on the export format provided by your broker. Folyo currently includes a parser for Trading 212 exports and a custom/generic CSV mapper. Because brokers control their own export formats:
A broker (including Trading 212) may change its CSV format at any time, which can cause imports to fail, skip rows, or map data incorrectly — again, outside our control and possibly without a fix.
Custom CSV mappings you configure are your responsibility to set up and verify.
Imported data is only as accurate as the file you provide. Always review imported transactions before relying on them, and verify them against your official broker statements.
Not financial, investment, or tax advice
Folyo is an informational portfolio-tracking tool only. Nothing in the app constitutes financial, investment, accounting, legal, or tax advice, a recommendation, or an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security or asset. Folyo does not provide brokerage, trading, execution, custody, or money-handling services, and does not hold your funds. Always verify figures independently and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions and their outcomes.
Accuracy is your responsibility
Folyo performs calculations (such as cost basis, gains/losses, and income) from the data you enter or import. These calculations may contain errors, and the underlying data may be incomplete or wrong. You are responsible for verifying all figures, especially before using them for tax filings, reporting, or financial decisions. Folyo's figures are not a substitute for your official broker or tax statements.
In-app purchases
Folyo Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks certain convenience features; optional support tips are voluntary contributions. Purchases are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google's terms and refund policies. Refund requests are handled by Google Play, not by us.
License and restrictions
Folyo is licensed to you, not sold. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app for your own personal, non-commercial portfolio tracking, subject to these terms and to Google Play's terms.
You may not, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits: copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sublicense, sell, rent, or otherwise make the app available to others; reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code; modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the app; or remove, obscure, or alter any branding, copyright, or proprietary notices.
All intellectual property rights in Folyo — including the app, its code, design, and the "Folyo" name and branding — belong to Cutzer Studios and are protected by applicable law. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or financial losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) Folyo, including losses caused by inaccurate data, missing prices, failed imports, calculation errors, or unavailability of the app or its data sources. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the app is to stop using it and uninstall it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the developer's country of residence within the European Union, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have under your local law.
