Privacy Policy — FOLK Students

FOLK Students is an app for students taking part in the Hare Krishna
Movement's FOLK programme in Surat, India. This policy explains what
information we collect and why.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you sign in with Google, we collect your name and email address.
During registration you provide your mobile number and residence type
(FOLK, hostel, or local).
As you use the app, we store the spiritual practice information you
choose to submit: daily chanting rounds, reading time, class
attendance and related details. We also store your reading progress,
service assignments and your daily commitments.
If you use the in-app assistant, your messages are stored so you can
see your own conversation history.
HOW WE USE IT
Your information is used only to support your spiritual development
within the FOLK programme. Your assigned guide and the programme head
can see the practice information you submit, your reading progress and
your service assignments, so they can offer you personal guidance.
Your conversations with the in-app assistant are private. Your guide
cannot read them. The only exception is described under Wellbeing
below.
We do not sell your information, show advertising, or share your data
with anyone outside the FOLK programme.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
We use Google Firebase to store data and send notifications, and
OpenAI to power the in-app assistant. Your assistant messages are
processed by OpenAI to generate replies.
WELLBEING
If the assistant detects that a message may indicate you are in
distress, that message is shared with your guide and the programme
head so they can reach out and support you. Only messages flagged this
way are shared.
CHILDREN
Some students in the FOLK programme are under 18. We collect the same
limited information from all students and use it only for the purpose
described above.
YOUR CHOICES
You can update your profile information in the app at any time. To
request deletion of your account and all your data, email us at the
address below and we will remove it.
