Folio Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Folio (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a mobile application that helps you identify postage stamps and trading cards from photos and estimate approximate market value ranges. This Privacy Policy explains what information is used when you use Folio.
By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we process
Photos you choose to scan
When you take a photo or select one from your library, the image is sent to our identification service so we can return a possible match and an estimated value range. The image is processed only to fulfill that scan request. We do not use scan photos for advertising or sell them.
Collection data on your device
Items you save (title, estimates, notes, condition, optional paid price, and image files) are stored on your device. Folio does not require an account to use the collection.
Purchase and subscription status

Device and technical data (limited)
Our servers may receive standard technical data needed to run a request (such as approximate time of the request and that the request came from the App). We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
Identify stamps and trading cards you submit
Show estimated value ranges and confidence
Provide on-device collection features
Unlock Folio Pro after a valid purchase or restore
Operate, secure, and improve the identification service
3. AI / third-party processing
Scan images are sent through our backend proxy to an AI model provider (currently Google Gemini) to generate identification results. That processing is done to complete your request. We do not sell your photos.
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal information.
We share data only:
With infrastructure and AI providers needed to run identification
With Apple and RevenueCat for purchases and subscription status
If required by law or to protect rights and safety
5. Retention
On-device collection: remains until you delete items, use Delete All Data, or delete the App
Scan images: processed to complete the request; not used to publish your personal collection
Subscription status: kept as needed to provide Pro access
6. Your choices
You can deny camera or photo library permission in iOS Settings
You can delete saved items or use Delete All Data in the App
You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
You can stop using the App and delete it at any time
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data in transit (for example, HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. International processing
Your scan request may be processed on servers in different countries, depending on our providers. By using the App, you understand that processing may occur outside your country of residence.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
