Dr. Jens Förderer
I am an Assistant Professor (Habilitand) at the Business School, University of Mannheim, Germany. I hold a BSC (Information Systems, 2011), MSC (Information Systems, 2013), and PhD (Business Administration, 2017) from the Business School, University of Mannheim, Germany. I have been a visiting scholar at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park in 2016. From 2015 to 2018 I was a research associate with SAP.
I study how firms can profit from open digital innovation, foremost through platform ecosystems, open-sourcing, and communities. My research is at the intersection between information systems and strategy. I do empirical, mostly econometric research.
My research is published in Information Systems Research, Information Systems Journal, among others. I have reviewed for Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, and various other scientific journals, institutions, and conferences. I held scholarships of the German National Science Foundation (DFG), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
