Birch Bay Library

Welcome to the website for the Friends of Birch Bay Library

FOBBL was formed to bring a first-class Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) branch to the Birch Bay community. With strong support from the WCLS board, the historic Vogt home, located at 7968 Birch Bay Drive (photo above) was purchased in April 2017. It will be grown into a beautiful Birch Bay branch called the Birch Bay Vogt Community Library, a destination library for residents and visitors alike.

We are working together to promote interest in our fledgling library and fund construction and development of an approximately 6,000 square foot library space filled of books, equipped with technology and serving as a community gathering place.

In April 2018 Zervas Architects was selected by our Design Committee to design the new library. Subsequently, three well-attended Community Input sessions were held on June 11, July 16, and August 18, 2018.

A fourth and possibly final Community meeting is scheduled for December 10th, 2018 at the BP Heron Center. That meeting will run from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. and there will be no charge for parking.

In addition to the above planned session, you can share your ideas by taking this survey on the WCLS website .

Help us build a beautiful, modern, convenient library that you, your parents, your children and grandchildren can be proud of and enjoy for years to come by becoming a Friend too. We need volunteers with many talents. Our Communication Committee, Development Committee and Events Committee need many worker bees: Please come add to the buzz!
