I am an Assistant Professor at the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. My former positions include Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the Norwich Business School of the University of East Anglia (UK), Adjunct Lecturer at the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge (UK), Associate Professor at FUCAPE Business School (Brazil), Investment Analyst at Alphamar Investimentos (Brazil), Fraud Management Lead and Data Analyst at PayWithMyBank (acquired by Trustly, Brazil and US), Field Force Effectiveness Analyst at Novartis Pharmaceuticals (Central America and Caribbean), and Systems Analyst at Nestlé (Chocolates Garoto Business Unit, Brazil). I hold a PhD in Accounting and Management and a BEng in Computer Engineering.
My research interests include financial disclosure, earnings quality, and Large Language Models (LLMs). My PhD dissertation's main paper has been published in the Journal of Business, Finance & Accounting. I have recently published a paper on the political bias of ChatGPT, which has been featured more than 150 times in the media, including The Washington Post, Forbes, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, New York Post, and Times Radio.
During my PhD, I was a visiting research scholar at the Sam M. Walton College of Business (University of Arkansas, US) and Krannert School of Management (Purdue University, US). After graduating, I secured a position as a post-doctoral researcher at the Federal University of Espirito Santo (BR). I'm an Associate Editor at Review of Business Management (RBGN), and former Editor-in-Chief of Brazilian Business Review (BBR), top tier Brazilian journals publishing research in management, accounting & finance, and economics. I'm also actively involved with startups, being an investor at Freatz / Almoço Grátis, co-founder and board member at NossoBB, and co-founder and consultant at Upthinkr.
