Background/Eligibility

Expanding Fall '23 patients Colorado Medicaid of ANY KIND, including Emergency Medicaid, can be offered Mirena or Paragard immediately post-placenta or Nexplanon prior to discharge.

We commit to provide this service in full acknowledgement of the complexity of contraceptive care in the United States, guided by the LARC Statement of Principles and ACOG Committee Opinion 670.

Nexplanon

• NOCO PP NEXPLANON order set 

• Contact Women's Care Charge Nurse to coordinate nursing support and to obtain a Post-Partum Nexplanon Kit, which will include a consent form.

• A Merck-certified Attending must be PRESENT at the time of insertion (includes all FMC and some PVP attendings).

• Nursing must be present for the Time Out but does not need to remain in the room for the entire procedure.
