I'm new to the game and have noticed there's a wealth of information on training from sources like Zealand, RDF, Hood Gaming, Bustthenet, and many more. I'm curious about which training schedules work best for you guys or which YouTubers or streamers have been the most helpful in your experience. Are their approaches all pretty similar, or is there a best option among them?

I mentioned above that the idea behind it was a plan for 6+1. The 1 being a rest day. So every Monday after 4 days of training and two matches we have a full day of rest. No match reviews, no team bonding. One full day off with all 3 slots as rest.

I'm no expert at all and could be totally wrong but I'm not sure that non league training has much of an effect. I always imagine it to be a bit of kick around and then off to the pub. Anyway, I've tried the following which simply concentrates on the next match:

But I don't see any improvements on my players directly from the training. So sometimes I switch to Match Practice + Att. Corners on day 2 and/or Physical + Goalkeepers on day 1 (Goalkeeper training is important if you need your outfield players to train new positions)

Early, I mix physicals with 'Overall' or 'Outfield' because those 2 train all aspects of tactical familiarity. Maybe 1 or 2 'Match Tactics' if my team is really struggling to learn a tactic but there really isn't enough training time to use those.

Recently I came across 2 YouTube videos about training schedules. One claimed that his custom training schedule outperformed assman 4 times in CA growth over a season. But it was done without controlled conditions with 2 completely different teams in every way and most importantly in terms of PA and room for growth and it was just donr over one season.

Second video was a huge experiment done by statistics nerd in controlled conditions that gave a ton of data and basically he brought the schedule down to 3 sessions: attacking, resistance and match practice ONLY. He compared it than to 4 most popular training schedules online and outperfmed or matched them in pretty much everything.

Ever since there's been an option to leave it to AssMan, I have. My players develop fine for the most part. I tend to look after their individual training to try to help them succeed in my system but the team stuff I couldn't ever really be bothered with.

If you want to min/max training, pay attention to Evidence Based Football Manager. His methodology is second to none, and his training schedule is without a doubt the best I've ever used in Football Manager. I've got fewer injuries than ever before, my young players are progressing like crazy, and my team has won 29 straight.

The reason why assman training works well is because he gives players enough rest. Most of the hyped-up training schedules you see are based on gut feeling and emotion rather than on actual evidence, and tend to overwork players as a result. Again, go watch Max's videos with EBFM and you'll see why really quickly.

There isn't a single answer to this as it is dependent on your assman's ability. A world class assman is very good at picking the right training schedules to properly address the areas that your players are weak in and to continue developing their strengths. I'd even go so far as to say that my best assmen have exceeded my own results but I've found that this quickly diminishes once you are dealing with non-world class staff and you are likely to get much better results than them by doing it yourself.

I would be extremely surprised if things were different in FM23. In addition to FM23 and FM22, EBTS also works very well on FM21 and FM20, and I'm guessing it works well on earlier games, too. In other words, I really don't think Sports Interactive is making super secretive behind-the-scenes changes to how training works.

Assistant Managers are actually pretty good at setting up General Training schedules. Not as good as some human managers can be but good enough to develop your players well. Just remember to take control of Individual Training yourself - do not leave that up to your AM because your AM doesn't know exactly how you want your players to develop.

If you want to take control of General Training yourself, the best place to learn everything you need to know is from the YouTube channel Bustthenet. That channel is run by one of the Moderators of this forum, @Rashidi. He knows far more about training than any other youtuber or reddit poster you'll ever come across.

The purpose of match previews and reviews is to give your players a bit of a boost during matches. How players perform during matches also helps their development - poor performances may not help development as well as good performances do. It's also possible to over train young (and older) players - they can become fatigued and may be more prone to injury if they have a constant cycle of matches and training without breaks.

As said above, the AM is perfectly capable of setting up a decent General Training schedule, just don't let him handle Individual Training - always do that part yourself. In terms of downloading schedules, you need look no further than Rashidi's.

2. You might be a youth only academy driven save. Now you want to see youth players getting into senior teams by 18. By balancing their game time with training time you can achieve growth. To get them ready for the senior team, you might only want them to have a few key attributes. You could choose poacher instead of complete forward for individual training of a young striker, in hopes that a focused approach will get him ready asap.

I could show you screenshots of a few 20 year olds in my save who were developed along that logic. To get them ready I took over individual training. To get the best growth out of your young cohort I advise you to take over individual training.

What about if I download and use your or any other pre made costume schedule? That will be better than letting the Ass Man doing? The fact that the schedules were made for your team and maybe they are not fitted for my team is not a possible problem? What about the repeating the same schedules over and over every week? Is not an issue?

You think tactical familiarity is important for the U18? I ask this because for players under 18 years old the training is more important than winning matches so I was thinking to dont waste slots at all with match previews and reviews and use this slots for more attribute training sessions.

I setup my training schedule - I am in charge of general training. I don't want the assistant to change it because of fixture congestion or whatever he thinks is best. NO. I am in charge ... I am the manager, I don't care for their suggestions.

If I set this in my calendar - The Monday schedule shown above still gets completely replaced by a 'recovery' session. I manually rest my players so the others who didn't play or much many minutes will train instead. Yet the assistant is insistent that the training schedule should be changed according to him - just because he feels like it.

It is honestly super frustrating and don't know why you make the assistant do training schedule changes when I am the one in charge of training. They should listen to me and if they want to suggest changes - I should say YES or NO.

All what you need to code is rather than ass man changing the training schedule due to match fixtures, ass man proposing to change match schedule so we can accept/reject. We are in control, as per the settings, why should ass man even have the power to change it.

Hi guys,

I know Mark and ZAZ did some testing for last year, but it wondered what the general consensus was regarding training schedules this year? I've been running RDF and it seemed to be going well with the seniors but the u23 and u18 I'm not too sure.

What is a good level of CA increase per season and I've noticed that CA rises occur before january and then not a lot afterwards. What are you guys running? Does having every non-gk on quickness training actually have a negative impact?

I'd love to know any really good sessions for CA rising for my u-23 team, which is where my best youth play for a year before a loan. 006ab0faaa
