⚠️ This is a private thermal flying site. Do not enter without holding both an active CASA membership and an active AMA membership.
☝️ ☝️☝️ If nobody has reserved your desired day in the calendar above (if it's empty), you MUST SCHEDULE THE TIME USING THIS BLUE SCHEDULE BUTTON! This notifies the landowner that our club will be out there.
**(CASA's designated days are Wednesday + Friday, Saturday, Sunday)**
1. Access & Scheduling (48-Hour Notice)
You must complete an in-person site orientation before your first flight. All flights must be booked at least 48 hours in advance using our official Google Calendar Booking Page. The system will not accept late bookings. Please note that flying is restricted to our designated club days [e.g., Friday, Saturday, Sunday] to respect the farm's daily operations. Carry your CASA ID and AMA card at all times.
2. Launch/Landing Location
All RC pilots must fly from the same general location on any given day (i.e. pilots must use the same general launch/landing area when multiple pilots are flying at one time and not spread all over the property).
3. Fire & Safety
If you use LiPo batteries, you must have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle. Report any crashes, lost planes, or property damage to the CASA Safety Officer immediately.
4. Legal / FAA Requirements
This site is NOT yet a FRIA. An FAA Remote ID module is legally required on your aircraft to fly here.
5. Aircraft Restrictions
Quiet electric-powered sailplanes and unpowered sailplanes ONLY. No gas, nitro, or wet fuels.
6. Flight Boundaries (scroll down for map)
Fly only within the designated red-line areas (see map). Do absolutely NOT fly over the farm buildings. Flying hours are 8:00 AM to Sunset.
7. Parking & Driving (10 MPH)
10 mph max. Always drive and park at the edges of the fields to protect the hay. Do not drive on fields if they are wet or muddy, park at the driveway edge and walk in.
8. Protect the Creek (Crucial)
The farm sits on a federally protected aquifer used for their distillery. You may ONLY cross the creek using the existing bridge. Do absolutely nothing that could contaminate the water.
9. Respect the Farm
Do not disturb, feed, or hunt the pigs, chickens, or roosters. Yield to all farm operations - if asked to move or leave by a farm employee due to mowing or farming, do so immediately and politely.
10. Leave No Trace
Pack out all trash. No smoking, open fires, alcohol, weapons, or overnight camping.
11. Facilities & Restrooms
There are no restrooms on site. The closest portable toilets are 6 minutes away at the Woodstock Equestrian Park @ 20207 Darnestown Road.
