Florissant SD Election 2025

ELECTION DETAILS:  The election for the Florissant Fire Board of Directors will be held May 6th, 2025 at the Florissant Library.  334 Circle Drive, Florissant, Colorado.  80816.  Phone 719-748-3939.  Polls open at 7:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM.  If you are waiting inline when the polls close, you will be able to vote.  Click on the "Florissant Library" button to reach their website.


The DESIGNATED ELECTION OFFICIALS are Mark Kohlman and Allen D Schultz.  An email to DEO@Florissant-SD-Election-2025.org will be received by both Mark, Allen, and the staff.


Technically speaking, Mark is the Designated Election Official and Allen is the Deputy DEO.


VOTER ELIGIBILITY:  Any person desiring to vote at any election shall be required to sign a self-affirmation that he/she is an eligible elector of the District. §§1-13.5-605(2)(a) and 32-1-806(2), C.R.S. An eligible elector for a special district election is a person who is registered to vote in the State of Colorado and is either:

a. A resident within the District boundaries or area to be included within the District boundaries on Election

The owner (or the spouse or civil union partner of the owner) of taxable real or personal property situated within the District boundaries or area to be included within the District boundaries. §§32-1-103(5)(a) and (b), C.R.S.A person who is obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property situated within the boundaries of the District or area to be included within the District boundaries is considered an owner for the purposes of 11b above. The property owner must be a natural person, not a corporation, trust, partnership, etc.   If you need to register to vote, click on the "Register to Vote" button on this website.

ABSENTEE VOTING:  Any eligible elector may cast an absentee voter’s ballot in the manner provided in Part 10 of Article 13.5 of Title 1,  C.R.S. Requests for an application for an absentee voter’s ballot can be made orally or in writing. The application may be in the form of a letter and must be filed with the Designated Election Official not later than the close of     business on the Tuesday preceding the election. Applications for absentee voters’ ballots shall be filed in writing and personally signed by the applicant or a family member and include the applicant’s printed name, residence, address, date of birth, and whether the applicant wishes to be designated as a permanent absentee voter. The Designated Election Official shall examine the application to verify the eligibility of the applicant to vote, and if the applicant is eligible, the Designated Election Official shall deliver as soon as practicable but not more than 72 hours after the blank ballots have been received,  an absentee voter’s ballot and packet. §1-13.5-1002, C.R.S.

REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT:  You can request an absentee ballot two ways.  To retrieve the original form from the county, click on "Election Forms", scroll down to "Polling Place Election", expand the list, and scroll down to "SD-31: Absentee Ballot."  Download it, edit it, then print and sign.  The instructions specific to filing Florissant Fire's absentee ballot request come with the form on this website.

INSTRUCTIONS AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR FILING THE FLORISSANT FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT APPLICATION FOR REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT.   

 

1.   WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM?

 

The Absentee Ballot Request Form must be received by the Designated Election Official (DEO) by close of business, 5:00PM on April 29th, 2025 (not less than the Tuesday preceding the election.)  Requests received after this deadline are not valid.  Post marks do not count.  Physical presence of your mailed Absentee Ballot Request in the DEO’s PO Box is required no later than this deadline!  Your FAXed or Emailed Absentee Ballot Request must be in the FAX machine tray and PC inbox by April 29th, 2025, 5:00 PM!

 

2.   HOW DO I RETURN MY ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM TO THE DEO?

 

You may submit your absentee ballot request form to the DEO via the following methods:

3.   HOW DO I KNOW THE DEO HAS RECEIVED MY VOTER ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUEST FORM?

 

You will receive a confirmation email. 

 

4.   HOW DO I CONFIRM MY VOTER STATUS.

 

A.  Look up your status online at  https://www.sos.state.co.us/voter/pages/pub/olvr/findVoterReg.xhtml .               

B.  Contact the county clerk.

C.  The DEO will confirm via email, after April 1st, after voter registration data is received from the County.

 

  The DEO cannot overstate the importance of a legible email address!  😊

 

 

 

5.   WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY ABSENTEE BALLOT TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL?

 

UOCAVA (Uniform and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act) ballots will be mailed on March 22nd, 2025.

 

All other ballots will be mailed starting April 7th, 2025.  Future incoming requests for absentee ballots will have those ballots mailed the next business day.  Note the deadline above.

 

6.   HOW DO I RETURN MY ABSENTEE BALLOT TO THE DEO?

 

You can return your ballot two ways:

 

A:            Your completed ballot package can be mailed via USPS to:

7.   HOW DO I KNOW THE DEO HAS RECEIVED MY ABSENTEE BALLOT?

 

The voter will be sent an email confirming receipt.  The DEO cannot overstate the importance of a legible email address.  😊

 

 

8.   I DID NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF MY ABSENTEE BALLOT.  How do I check?

 

After April 1st, 2025, Email the DEO at DEO@Florissant-SD-Election-2025.org and ask.
