Florian Beck
Until fall 2021, I was a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Murad Alim's Emmy-Noether group on String Mathematics at the University of Hamburg. Prior to that I defended my PhD in November 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Katrin Wendland and Prof. Emanuel Scheidegger at the University of Freiburg.
My research interests include
Complex integrable systems, for example Hitchin and Calabi-Yau integrable systems
Hodge theory, including non-abelian Hodge theory and mixed Hodge modules
Moduli and deformation theory
Hyperkähler geometry, in particular twistor spaces and their relation to harmonic maps
Mathematical Physics (Mirror Symmetry, tt*-geometry and BPS states)
Even though theses areas are a priori unrelated to each other, they interact in many unexpected and appealing ways. In my research, I aim to uncover such links to gain new and deeper insights on the nature of the corresponding objects.
