Florian Beck

Until fall 2021, I was a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Murad Alim's Emmy-Noether group on String Mathematics at the University of Hamburg. Prior to that I defended my PhD in November 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Katrin Wendland and Prof. Emanuel Scheidegger at the University of Freiburg.

My research interests include

  • Complex integrable systems, for example Hitchin and Calabi-Yau integrable systems

  • Hodge theory, including non-abelian Hodge theory and mixed Hodge modules

  • Moduli and deformation theory

  • Hyperkähler geometry, in particular twistor spaces and their relation to harmonic maps

  • Mathematical Physics (Mirror Symmetry, tt*-geometry and BPS states)

Even though theses areas are a priori unrelated to each other, they interact in many unexpected and appealing ways. In my research, I aim to uncover such links to gain new and deeper insights on the nature of the corresponding objects.
