# Privacy Policy for Floatwr

Floatwr ("the app", "we", "us") is a web browser for Android that runs websites
and saved web apps in resizable floating bubbles. This policy explains what the
app does and does not do with your information. It is written to be accurate to
how the app actually behaves.
## The short version
Floatwr does not have any servers. We do not collect, sell, or share your
personal data. The app stores its data locally on your device. If Android system
backup is enabled for your device, Android may also back up eligible app data to
your chosen backup provider under your device account; Floatwr does not operate,
access, or control that backup service. Other network connections are the ones
*you* initiate by visiting websites.
## What is stored on your device
To work as a browser, Floatwr keeps the following on your device only, inside
the app's private storage (a local SQLite database and the system WebView's
own storage):
- **Browsing history** — page titles and URLs of pages you visit.
- **Bookmarks** — sites you choose to save.
- **Browsers, tabs, and saved web apps** — the windows and tabs you create.
- **Profiles** — separate browsing identities you set up.
- **Notes and note attachments** — text, files, and images you save in the
in-app Notes feature, including text you capture from other apps via the
Android "Process Text" share action.
- **Website data** — cookies, local storage, and cached data that the websites
you visit place in the WebView, exactly as any browser stores them. This can
include login sessions for sites you sign into.
- **Website icons (favicons)** — fetched directly from each website's own
address and cached locally to display in the app.
None of this data is sent to us, and we have no ability to access it. It is
stored in the app's private storage on your device, subject to the Android system
backup described below. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes
the local copy.
## Android system backup
Floatwr permits Android's built-in backup and restore feature. If backup is
enabled in your device settings, Android may copy eligible Floatwr app data to
the backup service associated with your device account, such as Google backup,
and may restore that data when you reinstall the app or move to another device.
The exact data included, storage location, encryption, retention, and deletion
are controlled by Android, your device or backup provider, and your account
settings—not by Floatwr.
Floatwr does not send backups to its own servers, cannot view or retrieve your
backup, and does not receive information from the backup provider. You can
manage or disable device backup in Android Settings. Clearing Floatwr's local
data or uninstalling it may not immediately delete a copy already retained by
your backup provider; use your device account's backup controls to manage that
copy.
## Information you send to websites
When you visit a website or sign into a third-party service (for example,
signing into a site with your Google account), your interaction is directly
between you and that website. Floatwr passes your requests to those sites the
same way any browser does. The handling of any information you enter is governed
by the privacy policy of the website you are using, not by this policy.
## Permissions the app requests
- **Internet access** — required to load the websites you choose to visit.
- **Post notifications** — required to display the floating bubbles, which
Android implements as notifications, and to show download completion notices.
The app does **not** request access to your location, camera, microphone,
contacts, or files beyond what you explicitly pick when uploading a file to a
website or saving a note attachment.
## Downloads
When you download a file from a website, the app uses Android's system download
manager to save it to your device. The file is handled by Android, not sent to
us.
## Analytics, advertising, and tracking
The current version of Floatwr contains **no** analytics, no advertising, and
no third-party tracking SDKs.
If a future version of the app introduces advertising or an ad-supported free
tier, this policy will be updated before that version is released to describe
exactly what any advertising partner collects, and the app's Google Play "Data
safety" and ads declarations will be updated to match that release.
## Children
Floatwr is a general-purpose web browser and is not directed at children. It
loads arbitrary web content chosen by the user.
## Data security
Data stored locally by the app resides in Android's app-private storage, which
other apps cannot read on a non-compromised device. If Android system backup is
enabled, eligible data may also be protected and handled by your selected backup
provider according to its security practices and privacy policy.
## Your choices
- You can delete individual history entries, bookmarks, tabs, notes, and saved
apps from within the app.
- You can clear all app data, or uninstall the app, from Android Settings to
remove Floatwr's local data.
- You can manage or disable Android system backup in your device settings and
use your backup provider's account controls to manage retained backups.
## Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change, and material
changes will be reflected here before the corresponding app version is
released.
