The Flint River Conservation Association aims to provide meaningful and experiential learning about our local waterways, including the Flint River, to encourage active and engaged stewardship and protection.

1998 - FRCA was formed under the Clean Water Partnership
1998 - FRCA begins the annual Flint River Clean Up which lasts through 2020
1999 - Hays Nature Preserve and masterplan was accepted by the City
2002 - FRCA became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
2002 - Grand opening of Hays Preserve, with over 4000 people in attendance
2004 - FRCA held annual Earth Day event, until the main event moved to Monte Sano State Park
2009-2012 - Earth Day event held at Monte Sano State Park.
2012 - the CCC building was dedicated thanks to a $10,000 grant from Partners in Environmental Education and donations as part of the TOP Watershed Project
2012 - A milestone in water quality history, marking both the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, and the 20th anniversary of the Alabama Water Watch
2022 - Huntsville Environmental Coalition (HEC) was founded as a group of environmental activists, now with a seat on the City Sustainability Committee.
