Obviously fonts especially handwritten ones have strokes which alter alter in their thickness. When I import handwriting into v-carve I can see the CNC is going to carve the general shape of the stroke.

There are many Chinese fonts in the Object "Text" does not show correctly, I tried to update the windows font, but did not completely solve this problem. Our users want to display in Chinese, is there any way to solve this problem? Or is there any font that you can provide me?

You can change the Font to any font in Flexitive, and if the font you need isn't available, you can always Upload Your Own. If you would like to use a specific font in your design, you can search for it, using the search option in the fonts dropdown.

Sorry, I found your big comment in other request, you seem to already know about these scripts.

I totally agree about UPM and other dimensions all fonts already have, and AI's inability to give access to them.

I would also like to have these sizes to be visible as guides when using Smart guides for a live text.

So, one problem is that not all fonts cover the same writing systems. If you have your prefs set to "cap height" what happens to fonts installed on your computer that literally do not have capital letters? Symbolic fonts, non-western fonts that skipped even basic Latin, and others. This is one reason Adobe hasn't yet done this: because these corner cases exist on almost every user's computer, and make the problem more complex.

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Pagemaker, or DPI lower than 100 dpi. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop files are preferred, as they are more suitable applications for large format printing. Art time will be charged if files need to be fixed or altered to meet guidelines. When sending files, be sure to include all support art (fonts, linked images, etc.). Make sure to turn fonts into outlines.

We are a PC based facility. Fonts must be converted to outlines. If fonts are not converted to outlines, provide the font or fonts in supported files. If changes need to be made in the file, provide the font and a version of the file with editable type.

Here you can upload your files to us - simply fill in your details, attach a file (up to 300mb) and we will contact you as soon as possible. External wiki

 Pixel-Based Images/Scanned Images:

If you are sending scanned or pixel-based images (or 'raster/bitmap' - PSD, JPG/JPEG, TIF/TIFF, BMP, PDF, PNG), for best results please ensure they are actual size at a minimum of 300dpi. Please convert to CMYK if you can, so you see on your computer the colour shifts that may occur from screen to print (RGB to CMYK shift) and that you are happy to send us the final file.

If sending a native Photoshop .PSD file, please send any fonts used too as this format can contain vector and font information.

Please note that images from the web are usually too poor to print. We suggest searching for large images - these will reproduce much better.

 Vector-Based Images:

Adobe Illustrator .AI and .EPS files should have all fonts converted to outlines (or supplied with the file) and layers flattened - all images should be embedded. Please use CMYK as your document colour mode and convert PANTONE (PMS) spot colours to CMYK unless you specifically want a Pantone match.

CorelDraw .CDR (and exported formats) should have all fonts converted to outlines (or supplied with the file), all images embedded and should also be in CMYK (with Pantone spot colours converted to CMYK).

Other formats such as Serif DrawPlus, Freehand, etc - please outline all fonts and embed placed images if you can. We can also handle SignLab, FlexiSign and other obscure files - please call us to discuss.

 PDF:

By far the most useful format - we can edit PDFs but the format is really designed to be supplied and output - what you give us is what we will print, no font or image issues (hopefully!). If a PDF is created properly, any unusual fonts used will be embedded automatically. Most DTP applications create excellent press-ready PDFs.

 Microsoft Applications:

Publisher creates the best PDFs natively - it allows (and you should choose) commercial print settings for a PDF. This will ensure the highest quality reproduction on our presses.

Word is not ideal for creating PDFs, but can do it. A PDF created from a Word document is preferable to the Word document itself. If sending us a native Word document, please re-save a version with fonts embedded (when saving, choose 'options' and check 'embed fonts in the file').

Excel and PowerPoint are not designed for commercial print and can be (very) demanding to control - again, please create a PDF if you can.

 DTP Applications:

Professional DTP applications, such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress and CorelDraw are designed specifically for output to print, and will give the best results. When supplying natively saved files, please collect any images and fonts used and compress to ZIP and send us this file. Otherwise, please output to PDF using 'press quality'.

Serif PagePlus is a very capable application, and creates impeccable PDFs - please export to this format if possible. Microsoft Publisher is also a good PDF producer, especially if the 'commercial printing' option is chosen.

 Fonts:

Our biggest headache! We have a huge library of fonts, but new ones crop up every day! If you have used unusual fonts in your document, please send them too or convert to outlines.

 Cropmarks & Bleed:

Next to font problems, the lack of BLEED (where any elements or images used in your design 'hang off' the edge of the page) causes problems for us. If your application allows it, when exporting to PDF, please give us 3mm of bleed and include crop marks too.

 Other Applications:

We can handle almost all other file types, such as Apple Pages, PageMaker, OpenOffice documents, etc. If in doubt, please give us a call - 01594 840565.

 Proofs:

We will email you (or provide hard copy) proofs of all orders prior to printing - the first proof is always free (further proofs may be chargeable). We will require sign-off approval of all orders.

In the late 19th century a growing sentiment emerged frowning on the usage of print and advertising lettering styles on memorials, as largely a classless practice. This trend continued largely until the mid-1970s, when typefaces created for the print industry, such as Helvetica and Univers were introduced into the monument industry through plastic stencil press letters. The MLC does not intend to recreate these print industry fonts which can be purchased elsewhere, but seeks to create digital fonts from the historical lettering styles created specifically for stone engraving.

MLC fonts are created to be historically accurate, well-drawn with smooth curves (without awkward or jagged angles and ellipses as is often seen in the industry), proper and full punctuation marks, and extensive kerning. At least half of the time spent creating an MLC font is used on kerning alone.

MLC monument fonts are available in OpenType and TrueType formats (when purchasing a license you will receive both formats). With fonts in these formats, no longer will headstone manufacturers be constrained to using any one particular design software. MLC fonts may be used in any software that supports Opentype or TrueType fonts, including Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and flexiSIGN; or design software that allows importing, such as Gerber Omega, SignLab, and Monu-Cad. Unfortunately, most monument design software will not natively support standard font formats. The files must be imported, which often breaks kerning and special features like stylistic alternates and ligatures. *Not all features are guaranteed to work after being imported into specific software, and for this reason, the MLC lobbies strongly for the use of programs like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW in the monument industry. In the case of CorelDRAW, the MemorialDESIGNER add-on is highly recommended, as it will transform the software into a powerful monument design application.

Though it is a glaring error in typography, it has historically often been the habit of many in the monument industry to flip the left quotation mark to mirror the right mark. This treatment is often also requested by customers purchasing a headstone. For ease of use, MLC fonts include this alternate left quotation mark which may be accessed as stylistic alternates. A mirrored left single quote is also included with each font. Legacy versions of the MLC fonts included this feature as a or ligature. If you have a legacy version and would like the updated version of a purchased font, please contact the MLC. OpenType support is needed for this feature, check the capabilities of your design software.

I am using LXi 8.5 and am trying to download a new font into program. I have the font in my fonts folder as a true type font. However, it will not open thru the vinyl express program. What am I doing wrong?
