What you are seeing is correct for the 16.3 license manger install on a 64 bit Windows OS because the license manager installer is trying to install the32-bit dongle drivers, 64-bit Windows won't allow this and the error gets all the way back to the license manger status as a fail, hence the message. In the majority of cases a simple reboot will correct the problem since Windows will get the required dongle drivers at reboot from Windows update if the machine is connected to the internet at reboot. If the machine is not connected to the internet, there is a FlexID 64 bit installer executable in the flexid directory of the license manager installation directory, or better, try a search for HASP USB drivers, or something like that, on a machine that is connected to the internet, you should get to the site for SafeNet Inc where you can get the required drivers, look for the "latest dongle drivers" and a Windows GUI run time installer, 6.63 looks like the current version and then install those drivers.

(16.3 was released before the more common adoption of 64-bit Windows machines which is why it assumes the installation of 32-bit drivers. Later license managers have a "mixed" installer and will install 32, or 64, bit license manager and drivers as required)

When I installed my ORCAD on a Windows 10 computer a while back, every time I run the Cadence License Server Configuration (when I swap USB dongle/license... because our company has a few), I always get this message at the very last step:

"Cadence License Server Configuration utility has detected that it needs to install the FLEXid 9 dongle driver on your system. Please make sure to connect your FLEXid USB dongle to an available USB port. The driver installation process may take a few minutes. Click OK to continue or Cancel to terminate the Cadence License Server Configuration utility"

I always click "OK" and it does its thing... long wait... and it gives the message below (which I always ignore because at the end the license/dongle still work as intended and the software is usable).

"- Unable to restart Cadence License Server with the new license file "..... ". Failed to install FLEXid dongle driver. Failed to update your CDS_LIC_FILE license path with the new license server setting "....".

Fast forward... June 2020, I installed the same software on a new computer I recently assembled running on the latest Windows 10 update. I went through the above License Server configuration process and when it got to the step where it says that the FLEXid 9 dongle driver needs to be installed, I clicked "OK" as usual. However this time after just a few seconds of clicking "OK", the system rebooted. This process is repeatable and the system will just reboot at this step on the process. The FLEXID information is blank on the System Settings at LMTOOLS which gives me the impression that the dongle is not installed and the information from it could not be retrieved.

Further Googling, this file is described as "The genuine aksdf.sys file is a software component of Aladdin HASP by Aladdin Knowledge Systems. Aladdin HASP (Hardware Against Software Piracy) a digital rights management (DRM) suite of protection and licensing software. Aksdf.sys is a filter driver that is necessary for the proper functioning of HASP. The component adds support for specialized external devices. Removing this file may cause problems with Aladdin hardware." It seems like Flexera is using this.

I think we have a central license server for our other Cadence softwares. However for ORCAD someone started getting a USB-dongle version and that's how everybody went afterwards. We ended up with several USB dongles, each maintained (or misplaced) by different people.

If your Active-HDL, Riviera-PRO, ALINT, HES/DVM or Netlist Converter licenseis issued for a USB FLEXid keylock or dongle (license file contains referenceto "flexid=9" in the server line), installing the drivers may be necessary. Read Verifying Driver Installation below to check if you need to install the driver.

Hi Support Team;

I am looking fo rthe latest driver for the FlexNet ID Dongle - HL PRO Hardware FlexId-Ala-8626, but I can not find it. Could you please send me a direct link to download it for Win 10 / Win 11

Kind Regards

Sorry to contact you again,

but the downloaded driver do not work, I installed it on a Windows Maschine and also on a VM, but only Windows recognize the Dongle ( Red light) but LMTOOLS Do not show the flex ID of the dongle and also the FlexLM Protected programms ( IBM Rhapsody and DOORS) show the error message Host not found.

Hi @Schaaky Thanks for your test, as per I know the dognle9 driver version 8.23 is the latest and officially tested until in FNP 11.19.0 (even though we have the latest version 8.41 on the Thales site) so can you try the driver version 8.23 and still you are facing any issues then feel free to raise a support case to investigate further.

the version 8.53 does not work, with Win 10. After installing the dongle ( 9-xxxx) is not recognize and even LMTOOLS does not find the FlexId. So our customer get problems. Is it possible to get a driver which works withe the Dongeles 9-xxxx ?

Kind Regards

Installer: The following table lists those operating systems for which FLEXid dongle support exists along with a link to the appropriate installer. Download all installers appropriate to your implementation. Each installer contains all FLEXid dongle drivers supported by the particular platform.

Note: During installation of WkRuntime_6-30a.exe, when asked which WibuKey components you would like to install, you can deselect all options. This will just install the plain driver.

Answer:

Flexera does not recommend using FLEXID (dongle) hostids for license servers (such as the Synopsys SCL license server) running in virtual machines. This is because there are two separate third-party layers where an issue could occur: the dongle driver and the hypervisor USB-passthrough feature. Bugs in either of these layers could not be fixed directly by Synopsys or Flexera.

For portable licenses where a USB dongle key is required, the computer running SIMetrix or SIMetrix/SIMPLIS must have the dongle device driver installed. Typically the device driver is installed automatically alongside SIMetrix and SIMetrix/SIMPLIS and no additional manual installation is necessary.

Prior to using your dongle-based licenses you must install a dongle driver. If you have counted license keys, the Synopsys Common Licensing software must also be installed and started. (Uncounted keys do not require SCL. However, uncounted keys cannot be used over a remote desktop connection.)

The supplied dongle will be either a FlexID-9 (green) or FlexID-10 (blue) USB key, each of which requires its accompanying license file (*.lic) in order to run XFdtd. Before the licensing software will recognize the USB key, driver software must be downloaded and installed on the machine.

Install only the needed USB key driver and follow the installation instructions in the appropriate section below. After completing the FlexID driver setup, rebooting the computer helps ensure that the installer's changes take effect. Afterward, insert the USB key into a free USB port on the computer and continue on to the USB Key Licensing instructions.

I'm having issues getting a dongle based node locked version of CodeWarrior V10.2 running on Windows 10. I used the dongle latest drivers, and the dongle is recognized by windows. However, running LMTOOLS per the pdf instructions results in the FLEXID not showing up. I also noticed that the TPM_ID1 field shows "FNLS does not appear to be running".

It seems that you are using an old Version of our LMTools and the Dongle dRivers have not been installed on the computer please find the new version below and also the instructions inside the Readme File inside the dongle Driver zip file.

You will need the Flexera FlexNet Publisher FLEXID-10 USB driver to use USB portable licenses locked to FLEXID-10 hardware keys. The FLEXID-10 USB driver enables Keysight licensing to recognize and read the USB-connected hardware key that enables USB portable licenses.

FactoryTalk Activation supports Rockwell Automation's Universal Serial Bus (USB) dongles. Binding an activation to the dongle's serial number allows the dongle to activate software on any computer that the dongle is attached to.

Using a plug-and-play dongle with storage capacity allows FactoryTalk Activation Manager to automatically detect the dongle and provide the option of downloading activation files to it. The dongle can then be connected to any computer and used to activate software.

In some cases, a product's activation requires a specific dongle type. The error message Different dongle type needed indicates that the dongle in use does not support the activation of the product. The message indicates the type of dongle required, FlexNet or CmStick. Identify the correct dongle type and plug it into the computer.

You can get the hardware key driver from the FlexLM utilities folder by downloading the FLEX_lm Drivers and Tools. Unzip the download, navigate to the Windows\Hardware Key  folder, and install the driver by running the installer HASPUserSetup.exe. If the driver is installed successfully, then the FLEXID hardware key's LED should flash when it is plugged into a USB port. (To uninstall the driver, run HASPUserSetup.exe again, or uninstall the driver from the Windows Start menu by typing the command Add or Remove Programs, and removing Sentinel Runtime.)

If the LED flashes, but Cadence AWR software does not run, please see How to determine if hardware key drivers are installed and also check your license file to ensure that the hardware key number matches the number printed on the key. 2351a5e196
