In 2006, the NFL implemented a "flexible scheduling" procedure for Sunday Night Football. Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in all weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime. *For the 2023 season, flexible scheduling will be expanded to include Monday Night Football, as well as Thursday Night Football on a trial basis. *

Please note that the NFL is continuously reviewing its scheduling procedures to ensure exciting and meaningful games are available for viewing by the largest number of fans and so further changes to flexible scheduling could be implemented in the future.

VTA applied to its MPO (on behalf of the City) for CMAQ funding for design and construction for the project and transferred funding to FTA. Transferring the funds allowed for a more flexible and streamlined process; keeping the funding with FHWA would have required the project to follow some processes required by Caltrans that were not applicable to the project, including applying state highway and National Highway System standards when the bridge is over a local highway. Transferring the funds also allowed the project to move forward on a faster timeline, which was necessary to use the funding, but would have been difficult to adhere to given Caltrans capacity at the time to oversee the project. VTA hired a contractor to oversee the project, which followed all federal and local protocols and standards.

The Pin Configuration provides flexible configuration of the MCU's pins. This configures the electrical characteristics and functions of each port pin. As many pins are able to provide multiple functions, the pin configurator makes it easy to configure the pins on a peripheral basis. The Pin Configuration tool simplifies the configuration of large packages with highly multiplexed pins by highlighting errors and presenting the options for each pin or for each peripheral.

This handbook, with its appendices, provides detailed information on the administration of flexible and compressed work schedules, jointly referred to as alternative work schedules or AWS. However, this handbook does not cover every situation that may arise under an alternative work schedule or other work scheduling options available under 5 U.S.C. 6101. Moreover, since AWS programs for bargaining unit employees are established by negotiated agreements, bargaining unit employees and their supervisors and managers should consult the applicable collective bargaining agreement for its AWS provisions.

Under 5 U.S.C. 6122, a flexible work schedule includes designated hours (core hours) and days when an employee must be present for work. A flexible work schedule also includes designated hours during which an employee may elect to work in order to complete the employee's basic (non-overtime) work requirement.

Compressed work schedules are always fixed schedules. (See Comptroller General report B-179810, December 4, 1979.) Another difference between flexible and compressed work schedules is that an employee on a flexible work schedule may be credited with a maximum of 8 hours towards the employee's basic work requirement on a holiday or Sunday (see 5 U.S.C. 6124 and the definition of Sunday work in 5 CFR 550.103), whereas the number of holiday or Sunday hours for an employee on a compressed work schedule is the number of hours regularly scheduled for the employee to work on that day if not for the holiday (see 5 U.S.C. 6128(c) and (d)).

There is no authority to establish hybrid work schedules that borrow selectively from the authority for flexible work schedules and the authority for compressed work schedules in an effort to create a hybrid work schedule program providing unauthorized benefits for employees or agencies. See Comptroller General report B-179810, December 4, 1979, and 50 FLRA No. 28, February 23, 1995. However, it should be noted that some forms of flexible work schedules (e.g., maxiflex) allow work to be compressed in fewer than 10 workdays in a biweekly pay period.

The basic work requirement of a flexible work schedule is the number of hours, excluding overtime hours, an employee must work or otherwise account for by leave, credit hours, holiday hours, excused absence, compensatory time off, or time off as an award.

These models typify the more common types of flexible work schedules. The flexitour and gliding schedule examples show daily work schedules. The variable day schedule example is a weekly schedule. The variable week schedule and maxiflex examples are biweekly work schedules. These models are not meant to be all inclusive. Agencies may develop schedules tailored to meet their specific needs.

Employee vacation and health and personal leave will continue to be based on hours paid during the remote work arrangement as per existing procedural language. Requests to take vacation or other time off from work must be pre-approved in writing by a supervisor. Supervisors are strongly encouraged to be flexible and supportive with employees in granting employee time off requests.

Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program - The CMAQ program provides a flexible funding source to state and local governments for transportation projects and programs to help meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act.

A flexible permit allows an operator more flexibility in managing his operations by staying under an overall emissions cap or individual emission limitation. The applicant is allowed to structure the flexible permit to best serve their needs. Some basic rules of flexible permits are:

In 2022, SANDAG started a process to select service providers to design, deploy, operate, and monitor on-demand flexible fleets throughout the region. Contracts with these providers are available to local jurisdictions and transit agencies. SANDAG's Board of Directors has approved $25 million across all categories of service over a three-year term beginning in 2023 with two additional one-year options.

The recommendations of the Working Group, presented to the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly, seek agreement to fully fund the core budget of WHO with flexible funds, including through a regular increase of assessed contributions, which will rise gradually,starting in 2024, with a view to cover 50% of the base budget agreed on for 2022-2023 before 2030-2031, and by 2028-2029 if possible.

In November 2018, the KUMC Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) implemented a new policy for flexible IRB review. Flexible IRB review means a review and oversight process that applies human subjects protections commensurate with risk while reducing administrative burdens for researchers and the IRB.
