World War II

Unit Purpose:

Remember WWI, it doesnt seem like we studied that unit too long ago. After a brief break from the first major international conflict, we see that tensions are going to start again. The causes of WWII are going to stem from WWII and the consequences of the war are going to be far worse. Together we are going to learn about the truth about the beginning of the war, the major battles of the war, the use of the atomic bomb and the Holocaust. Will America ever be the same after the conflict?

Unit Standards:

USII.7 The student will demonstrate knowledge of the major causes and effects of American involvement in World War II by

  • a) identifying the causes and events that led to American involvement in the war, including the attack on Pearl Harbor;
  • b) locating and describing the major events and turning points of the war in Europe and the Pacific;
  • c) describing the impact of the war on the home front.
