By downloading, installing, or using Flashback, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.
The source code, design, and intellectual property of Flashback belong to Alex Kutsaev. You are not allowed to copy, or modify the app, any part of the app, or our trademarks in any way. Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the source code of this application, or reselling this application, is strictly prohibited.
You agree not to use Flashback to record confidential information, copyrighted material, or private conversations without necessary consent as required by your local jurisdiction.
Important Liability Disclaimer: The user assumes full responsibility for complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding audio recording (e.g., one-party vs. two-party consent laws). The developer (Alex Kutsaev) is not liable for any misuse of this application for illegal surveillance, wiretapping, or unauthorized recording.
This app is provided "as is" without any warranties, expressed or implied. The developer does not guarantee that the app will function uninterrupted or be error-free. We are not liable for any lost audio data due to battery failure, system limits, unexpected app termination, or memory constraints.
Flashback ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our application collects, uses, and safeguards your information. Flashback is designed as a local audio buffer tool that prioritizes user privacy by processing data entirely offline on your device.
Flashback is a privacy-first application. We operate under a strict "Local Processing" policy.
No Cloud Storage: We do not transmit, upload, store, or analyze your audio recordings on any server. We have no access to your recordings.
Local Processing (RAM): Flashback uses your device's microphone to continuously record audio into a temporary "Circular Buffer" located in the device's Random Access Memory (RAM).
Volatile Data: This audio data is overwritten automatically every 30 to 300 seconds (depending on your settings). It is permanently erased if the service is stopped or the app is closed without clicking "Capture."
File Storage: Audio is never saved to permanent storage unless you explicitly trigger a "Capture" action. When you tap "Capture," the audio currently in RAM is converted to an AAC file and saved locally to your device's internal storage. You have full control to delete or share these files.
To function correctly, Flashback requires the following permissions for the sole purpose of core functionality:
RECORD_AUDIO (Microphone): Required to capture audio into the temporary RAM buffer.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Required to keep the audio buffer active and running while the screen is off or while you are using other apps.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required by the Android System to display a status notification indicating that the microphone is active, ensuring transparency for the user.
READ/WRITE STORAGE: Required to save the captured audio files to your device so you can access them later.
Since the app operates entirely offline, we do not share, sell, or rent your personal data or audio recordings to third parties.
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
The Flashback application, including its original content, features, code, and functionality, are and will remain the exclusive property of Alex Kutsaev. The application is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States and foreign countries. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of Alex Kutsaev.
