We collect the following information when you use FishCatch:
• Account information: email address, username (@handle), display name, and password
• Profile information: profile photo, country/region, and bio
• Catch data: photos, species, weight, length, location, and timestamps
• Social interactions: follows, likes, and competition participation
• Usage data: interactions within the app (such as posting, likes, and navigation), used to improve functionality and prevent abuse
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
• Provide and operate the FishCatch service
• Display your profile and catches to other users
• Enable social features (following, likes, activity feeds)
• Track your FishCatchDex progress based on your selected region
• Facilitate competitions and maintain leaderboards
• Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
• Improve the App and user experience
3. Region-Based Data
Your selected country/region determines which species are available in your FishCatchDex and which leaderboards you participate in. Currently supported regions include Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and Canada. Your region selection is stored in your profile and can be updated at any time.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is securely stored using Supabase (a third-party service provider) with industry-standard security measures, including Row Level Security (RLS) policies that restrict data access to authorized users only. Competition scores and critical data are managed server-side to prevent unauthorized modifications.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your catches, profile, and activity may be visible to other users depending on your privacy settings. If your account is set to private, only approved followers can see your catches and activity. Public profiles are visible to all FishCatch users.
6. Location Data
If you provide location data with your catches, this information is stored and may be visible to other users who can view your catches. Providing location data is optional. You can choose not to include location when logging catches.
7. Photos and Media
Photos you upload (profile pictures, catch photos) are stored securely and are accessible to users who can view your profile based on your privacy settings. You can delete your catches and associated photos at any time. When you delete a catch or your account, associated photos are permanently removed.
8. Competitions and Leaderboards
When you participate in competitions, your catch data and scores are used to calculate rankings. Competition data, including scores and standings, may be visible to other competition participants. Competition scores are calculated and stored server-side.
9. Abuse Prevention
We monitor usage patterns to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. This includes tracking the frequency of actions such as posting catches, creating competitions, and social interactions. This data is used solely for maintaining service integrity and is not shared with third parties.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
• Access your personal data stored in the App
• Update or correct your profile information at any time
• Delete individual catches and their associated data
• Set your account to private to restrict visibility
• Delete your entire account and all associated data permanently
To exercise these rights, use the settings within the App or contact us directly.
11. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the App settings. When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed: your profile information, all catches and photos, competition participation records, social connections (follows, likes), and notifications. This action is irreversible.
12. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and user-generated content are permanently removed from our systems. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytical purposes.
13. Children's Privacy
FishCatch is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. We will notify users of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
