New Photography Club

23/02/2020

Come along for wander round the park with your camera (including camera phones if you don't have a separate camera) on Sunday 1st March. Meeting at 11 am outside Henry's cafe, we'll be out for an informal walk around, taking shots and sharing some photo tips. Everyone is welcome.

Hopefully some of the photos will be featured in the Friends 2021 calendar.

Tuned for Success

20/02/2020

The recent Big Sing event in the Clock Tower on the 8th February was a huge success with over 60 people attending. Singing group regulars were joined by other members of the community in singing away the winter blues. If you missed out don't worry there will be another one very soon; watch this space.

The Big Sing!

06/02/20

This Saturday the gang from the Firth Park Singing Group are putting on a Big Sing event at the Clocktower. All are welcome to come along and join in; you don't need to have any experience or choir training and it's free to take part. It's all just for fun. There will also be refreshments provided, there has even been mention of cake.

Spring is Sprung?

03/02/2020

There are signs all over the park that Spring is on its way. Snowdrops and crocuses are out and the winter pansies look pretty by the cafe. The mild weather has meant that flowers and plants are all in bud earlier than they would be normally; the cherry blossom is in bloom on a couple of the trees and a Queen masonary bee was spotted on the snowdrops. We don't seem to have had much in the way of Winter at all. Is it a sign of accelerated climate change? Will it hit us when we least expect it?

Firth Park Mystery Shopped

02/02/2020

The park was given a glowing report when it was mystery shopped by a Green Flag judge just after the Christmas Festival last December. As part of the Green Flag award, parks are sometimes visited without notice to see how well they do on an ordinary day. Firth Park impressed the mystery visitor, particularly the cafe & the amount of community activities put on by the Friends group. Well done to all who look after the park including the gardening and maintenance staff.
