Abstract:

Every day financial traders, analysts, credit risk/operational risk teams, and legal/compliance teams spend time informing themselves about the market and what global or domestic current events may impact their assets. A substantial amount of time and resources would be saved by streamlining the process in which they receive their news which would lead to more informed decision making. The goal of the MNRVA project is to develop a multi-document text summarization algorithm for FinTech Studios’ web based financial news aggregation platform Apollo.ai.

Apollo helps users more efficiently inform themselves by using machine learning, natural language processing and sentiment analysis to present them with the news that matters most. The MNRVA algorithm will further increase the efficiency of news intake on the platform by summarizing clusters of articles involving certain key entities or topics generated by Apollo. Implementing this multi-document summary functionality will increase desirability of the Apollo platform, and lead to an increased rate of subscription.

Mission Statement:

The goal of the MNRVA project is to assist financial traders, analysts, credit risk/operational risk teams, and legal/compliance teams that need to consume a large amount of financial news on a regular basis. The MNRVA algorithm is a multi-document text summarization algorithm that uses statistical natural languages processing methods to summarize the key points and ideas from multiple articles into a concise summary so users can spend more time making informed decisions. There are no competitors providing users with multi-document summarization at this time; other solutions only offer bullet-pointed key phrases or single document summaries. We will be able to provide FinTech Studios’ customers with a competitive advantage compared to other firms who are not using the Apollo.ai platform by allowing them to more efficiently inform them self on breaking news in the financial sector.
