Balancing everyday life with the requirements of work and home can create pressures for all of us. Health Assured supports the NUH EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) which may assist you in achieving this balance. The EAP is available for all staff to access for free. The EAP can offer advice on managing finances as well as a variety of other work, health and personal queries.

Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy team supports staff whatever their background or belief. Your need may be faith specific, or you may simply need someone who has time to listen and help you understand and make sense of what is happening to you. Support is available 24 hours by contacting 83799 (QMC) or 76187 (City).

£2 Staff Meals

As of 3rd October, staff members at NUH can access a specified hot meal for £2 at any of our three restaurants - QMC D floor restaurant, and the City Hospital Hotel and Eat Well restaurants. The offer will be available from 12 noon to 6am and both meat and plant-based options will be available. In addition, there is also the option to purchase a dessert for £1 and a bottle of water/hot drink for £1.

NUH Buy, Sell, or Give Away

NUH Buy, Sell, and Give Away is a Facebook group for NUH staff to swap, buy or sell preloved items. This was made for the convenience of NUH Staff to be able to schedule available meet up dates for collection or pick-ups. You do need a Facebook account for this.

Thrive App

Thrive is an app that is completely free and confidential to all NUH staff. Staff can use the app to individually receive help from a qualified therapist should they need it. After answering a questionnaire, if you qualify a therapist can be in touch with you within 10 minutes.
Thrive also offer other services such as financial wellbeing webinars, and individual help such as deep muscle relaxation, CBT, games related to calming anxiety, and sliding mood scales to insert every day. Use the code NUHT when signing up.

OLIO connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. This could be food nearing its sell-by date in local stores, spare home-grown vegetables, bread from your baker, or the groceries in your fridge when you go away. The Company Shop

The company shop is a store where surplus food from supermarkets is sold at discounted prices. You need a membership card to access this store, which is free to all NHS staff.

The nearest store to NUH is Long Eaton and you must apply for free membership before visiting, you will then be invited to collect your membership card and you are free to start shopping.

The Uniform Project is helping Parents, Schools, and communities in Nottingham to reduce clothing waste by upcycling school uniforms.

“We achieve this by collecting School uniform donations from schools throughout the year and releasing them back to the community for parents to upcycle and save money at the same time”.

The Unform Project was founded by a Nottingham mum called Emma, is supported by Councillor Audrey Dinnall, the Woven Churches, and St John's Church (Carrington), Himmah and Sharewear to save school uniforms from landfill, helping save the planet.

Connected for Warmth - Free Energy Efficiecency Measures for Domestic Properties

A new energy efficiency scheme, Connected for Warmth, is offering free cavity wall and loft insulation to households nationwide. If the resident’s Council Tax Band is A-D, they could be eligible.

You do not need to be a member of the Royal College of Nursing to apply to the RCN Foundation. We are here for all members of the nursing and midwifery professions. This includes:

NMC registered nurses and midwives who live in the UK, including nurses who have qualified abroad and are seeking to work in a health care environment.
Health care support workers, nursing associates and nursing apprentices living in the UK who have practised in a health care support role for three or more years, under the supervision of registered nurses. Applicants who are currently retired or off sick having previously worked in these roles can be considered for funding if evidence of three years' health care support employment can be provided.
Nursing undergraduate students whose funding has stopped due to illness, or who are fleeing domestic abuse, or who have experienced a bereavement of a partner that they lived with (please get in touch with the Foundation to discuss specific cases).

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

The Members Benevolent Fund (MBF) can assist past and present members of the CSP experiencing unforeseen hardship or financial difficulties.

They will ask that you ensure that you have investigated other sources of assistance, e.g. State Benefits, before applying to the CSP MBF.

Please note that the MBF is UNABLE to assist with:

A shortfall in income/expenditure due to consumer debts such as credit cards and loans
