Privacy Policy — Storage Cleaner
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Storage Cleaner ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the application. Storage Cleaner is developed by Muhammad Ishfaq, operating from Pakistan.
Overview
Storage Cleaner is an on-device file compression and archival tool. Its core function — scanning, compressing, archiving, and restoring your photos, videos, and documents — runs entirely on your device. Your files are never uploaded to a server, and we do not have the ability to view, access, or process the content of your files.
Information We Collect
Your files (photos, videos, documents)
Storage Cleaner requests broad storage access ("All files access" on Android 11+, or legacy storage permissions on older versions) so it can:
Scan your device's storage to find files worth compressing
Read the original file to create a compressed archive
Write the compressed archive to a folder on your device (Documents/.Storage Cleaner/)
Move a file back to its original location when you restore it
None of this ever leaves your device. The App does not upload, transmit, or have server-side access to your file contents, filenames, or folder structure. There is no cloud backup, no remote server, and no account system in this app.
Usage and diagnostic data (Firebase)
We use Firebase, a Google service, for these purposes:
Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage events (e.g., which screens are opened, whether the premium paywall is shown/tapped/purchased, ad impressions/clicks) to understand how the app is used and improve it. This does not include your file names, file contents, or folder paths.
Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and error diagnostics (e.g., stack traces, device model, OS version) so we can find and fix bugs.
Firebase Remote Config — lets us retune ad frequency/placement (see "Advertising" below) without shipping a new app version. It does not carry any personal data — only feature-flag-style values.
Analytics and Crashlytics events are automatically disabled in development/debug builds and only active in the version you install from the Play Store. We do not use Firebase Performance Monitoring or Firebase Cloud Messaging in this app.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Storage Cleaner shows ads to free-tier users, served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). If you purchase lifetime premium, all ads are removed. Ad formats used: native ads embedded in several screens, full-screen interstitial ads shown between actions, and an app-open ad shown when you return to the app. We do not use any ad network other than Google AdMob, and we do not use rewarded ads.
To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK may collect and process, on Google's behalf:
Your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier — not your name, email, or phone number) and general device information (device model, OS version, language, general/coarse location derived from IP).
Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, and whether an ad completed loading).
We (the app developer) do not receive or store any of this data ourselves — it is processed directly by Google under Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). In regions where required (e.g., EEA/UK), the app shows a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form on first launch so you can choose whether to allow personalized ads; you can reopen this choice any time — see "Your Choices" below.
Purchase data (Google Play Billing)
Storage Cleaner offers an optional one-time "lifetime premium" purchase (which also removes all ads), processed entirely through Google Play Billing. Your payment method, card details, and billing address are collected and processed by Google, not by us — we never see or store this information. We receive only a purchase confirmation from Google Play, which the app uses locally to unlock the premium features on your device.
Information you choose to provide
If you contact us directly (e.g., by email for support), we receive whatever information you choose to include in that message, such as your email address and its contents.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require or support account creation, sign-in, or login.
We do not use the camera.
We do not analyze, scan, or "understand" the content of your photos or files with AI/ML — Storage Cleaner compresses files based on their format, not their content.
We do not use any ad network other than Google AdMob (see "Advertising" above), and premium users see no ads at all.
We do not upload your images or files to any third-party image-hosting or search service.
Permissions Explained
All-files access / storage (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, legacy WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
To find, read, compress, archive, and restore your files locally.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
To show a progress notification while a compress/restore batch runs in the background. No marketing or promotional notifications are sent.
Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC)
To keep a long compress/restore batch running reliably if you leave the app, showing the notification above.
Internet (INTERNET)
Required for Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics/Remote Config, Google Play Billing, and loading/measuring AdMob ads — never used to transmit your file contents.
Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID)
Added automatically by the Google Mobile Ads SDK so AdMob can serve and measure ads. Not used by us for any other purpose; removed from the ad SDK's use entirely once you buy lifetime premium (no ads load).
Third-Party Services
Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics & Remote Config (Google) — see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Firebase's data processing terms (https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy).
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK, including its User Messaging Platform consent tool) — see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
Google Play Billing (Google) — see Google Play's Terms of Service (https://play.google.com/intl/en-us/about/play-terms/).
We do not sell your data. Data shared with the third parties above is limited to what is described in this policy, processed by Google under its own terms as our service providers/data processors for analytics, crash reporting, and ad delivery.
Data Retention
File archives you create with Storage Cleaner remain on your device (in Documents/.Storage Cleaner/) until you delete them yourself or uninstall the app and manually remove the folder — this folder is intentionally designed to survive an app uninstall so your archives aren't lost by accident.
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained according to Google's standard Firebase retention periods (typically up to 14 months for Analytics data), after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
Advertising ID and ad interaction data is retained and managed by Google under its own AdMob/UMP retention policies; we do not separately store it.
Children's Privacy
Storage Cleaner is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Your Choices
You can revoke the storage or notification permission at any time from your device's Settings; the app will simply be unable to compress/restore files or show progress notifications without them.
You can disable Analytics/Crashlytics collection at the OS level by disabling "Usage & diagnostics" (or equivalent) sharing on your device, where supported.
Ads: buying lifetime premium removes all ads. Where a consent form is shown (EEA/UK), you can change your ad-personalization choice any time from the app's privacy-options link; you can also reset or delete your device's advertising ID, or opt out of interest-based/personalized ads entirely, from your device's OS-level Google/Ads settings.
You can delete all app-local data (settings, cached state) by uninstalling the app. Since your compressed archives live in the public Documents/.Storage Cleaner/ folder by design, uninstalling the app does not delete them — remove that folder manually if you want it gone too.
To request deletion of any Firebase-linked diagnostic data tied to your device, contact us at the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
