Introduction
Thank you for using File Manager: Zip & Unzip Tool ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
File Manager: Zip & Unzip Tool does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information to external servers.
The App accesses the following on your device solely to provide its features:
Storage / File System — to browse, read, copy, move, rename, delete, and organize files and folders on your device.
Installed Apps — to display a list of installed applications and enable APK backup and uninstall.
WiFi Network — to display your device's local IP address for the built-in FTP server feature (local network only, no internet transmission).
None of this data ever leaves your device.
2. How We Use Your Data
All file operations occur entirely on your device. We do not:
Upload your files to any server.
Share your data with third parties.
Track your file usage or browsing activity.
Access your files for any purpose beyond what you explicitly triggered.
3. Privacy Vault
The Privacy Vault feature encrypts your files using AES-256 encryption. Encrypted files are stored in the app's private directory, invisible to other apps. Your vault PIN is stored only on your device as a SHA-256 hash. If you forget your PIN, encrypted files cannot be recovered. We have no access to your PIN or encrypted files.
4. FTP Server
The built-in FTP server operates only on your local WiFi network. It is not accessible over the internet. No data is transmitted to our servers. You are responsible for the security of your local network when using this feature.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version displays ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
Advertising ID (resettable in Android Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID)
Approximate location (country/region only)
Device type and OS version
Ad interaction data (taps, impressions)
This data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Pro users have all ads removed entirely.
6. In-App Purchases
Purchases are processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not receive, store, or process your payment details. The only data stored locally is a flag indicating whether you have purchased a Pro plan.
7. Permissions Explained
READ/WRITE EXTERNAL STORAGE — Required to browse and manage files. Used only on Android 12 and below.
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / VIDEO / AUDIO — Required to access photos, videos, and audio files on Android 13+.
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Required on Android 11+ to allow the file manager to access all folders including Downloads, Documents, and other directories.
INTERNET — Used for displaying advertisements and for the local FTP server.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — Used to display the device's local IP address for the FTP server feature.
REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES — Used to install APK files from the App Manager feature.
8. Children's Privacy
This App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data Retention
All files and vault data remain on your device. Uninstalling the App removes all app preferences and vault data. Files you managed through the app remain on your device until you delete them manually.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
