Who are the Watch D.O.G.S.?
Dads, Grandpas, Step-dads, or other father figures.
What do the Watch D.O.G.S. do?
Spend part of or the whole day at school being a role model for kids by volunteer in their student(s)'s classroom as well as others (up to 4 classrooms in a day!), enjoy lunch with their kid(s), help at lunch and recess by chatting or playing with kids.
Program Benefits:
Our students gain a positive male role model. Some students may not have a father-figure present in their home and the number of male teachers has been steadily declining in recent years. More positive male role models are needed in the school setting.
Our schools gain an extra set of eyes and ears. The presence of Watch D.O.G.S. can increase a sense of security for students and staff that helps create an environment conducive to learning.
Fathers get to spend more meaningful time with their students in the school setting and gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they have on their student's educational progress.
When Watch D.O.G.S. invest a day at school, they can learn how to better partner with the school to meet educational goals of students.
