Class Information

WELCOME BACK, JAGS!

This school year begins my 22nd year as an 8th grade ELA teacher. I have been teaching at JPJH since the school opened in 2010.

As cliché as it sounds, teaching truly is my calling. I love everything about it, but my top 4 things are building relationships with my students, laughter in the classroom, class discussions, and talking about books with students.

Away from school, I attend First Denham Church and enjoy spending time with my husband, 7-year-old son Warner, 4-year-old son Ellis, and our cat Pete.

The Benefits of Reading

Even though AR has become an incentive-only program rather than a graded requirement, I encourage you to read!

I know it is not a favorite or top priority for many students; however, the benefits of even 10 minutes of daily reading is beneficial.

Students often say they don't have time to read, but this is incorrect. Many choose not to make the time, as 8 minutes is 16 TikTok videos.

Talking about books is one of my favorite things to do! Let me help you find a book that will spark a love of reading. Make the time to read! Your brain will thank you.
