You will need two colours of craft felt; one for the main colour (body, head, wings) and one for the secondary colour (belly, tail, wings).
Using a contrasting colour of thick craft thread (or full strand embroidery floss), stitch the tail to the body. The curve of the tail should match the curve of the dragon's butt.
Note: The tail can be stitched to either side of a body piece, depending if you want the tail to be on the dragon's left side or right side.
Make sure you stitch the eyes on opposite sides of each body piece, so they are on the outside when the pieces are later stitched together.
Note: You can also stitch on buttons or do a fancy embroidery stitch for the eyes.
Stitch around the edge of two wing pieces (of different colours) and then add a running stitch to accent the ribs of the wings. Repeat with the other two pieces, making sure that the opposite colour is on top so when the two wings are placed together, the same colours face each other.
Match the top of the head piece to the "ear" of the body and stitch down to the nose. Match the opposite corner to the "ear" of the other body and stitch down that side to the nose.
Stitch down the back of the head on each side and along the back of the neck.
Insert the wings at the back, between the two body pieces. Stitch them securely in place and continue along the back to the dragon's butt.
Match up the toe on one side of the body to the wide angle of the belly piece and stitch up one side to the top of the belly piece under the chin.
Match up the toe on the other side of the body to the wide angle of the belly piece and stitch up the other side all the way to the chin. Starting at one of the toes again, stitch along the bottom on one side to the bottom of the belly piece by the butt. Leave the other side open.
Stuff polyfil stuffing up into the head and then fill the body. Stuff to the firmness you prefer.
Stitch along the last side of the belly piece, closing the dragon completely.
You should make more!
These are very popular as kids' largesse.
