Largesse:
noun | lar·gesse | \ lär-ˈzhes , lär-ˈjes also ˈlär-ˌjes \: Anglo-French from the Latin word largus, meaning "abundant" or "generous."
Materials:
Plastic bottle cap
Felt
Stuffing
Embroidery Floss
Tools:
Scissors
Felt Needle
You will need to cut three pieces of felt, using the bottle cap as a template:
Piece 1: Long strip that sits around the circumference of the cap. The width should be very slightly wider than the cap height.
Piece 2: Circle, same size as the cap base
Piece 3: Circle, approximately 2.5 to 3 times the diameter as the cap base
Note: The circle shown is about the largest you might want to use, as it makes a really bulbous cap (see end photo). Cutting the circle smaller by about half a cap width made a cap that was about the same size as the base. There is no exact size, just go with what works for you.
Using the embroidery floss, stitch a running stitch around the circumference of piece 3
Pull the embroidery floss to close the gap and stuff with fibre-fill. Tie the ends of the floss to secure the gap closed.
Wrap piece 1 around the circumference of the bottle cap and stitch the ends together.
Stitch the bottom edge of piece 1 to the circumference of piece 2.
Insert the stuffed cap (piece 3) into the opening of the bottle cap and stitch the top edge of piece 1 to the side of the stuffed cap. Tie off then snip the ends of the embroidery thread.
Optional:
Embellish the pin cushion cap and base side with embroidery designs
(can be done before stitching together or afterwards)
Embellish the base side with beads and/or trim
