The Functional Electrode & Interface Materials Lab (FEIM Lab) at Chungnam National University focuses on achieving high efficiency and durability in Water Electrolysis and various Next-Generation Electrochemical Devices.
Based on fundamental electrochemical principles, our research focuses on elucidating complex physicochemical phenomena at electrode surfaces and interfaces. We specialize in developing functional materials and surface treatment processes to precisely engineer these interfaces. Our expertise ranges from designing high-performance catalysts for water electrolysis to advanced surface engineering of bipolar plates and diffusion media (PTL/GDL) via electroless/electroplating, corrosion analysis, and electrochemical device testing.

(1) Water Electrolysis Electrode & Catalyst Design: Development of highly active, cost-effective electrocatalysts and efficient electrode structures.
(2) Interface Engineering & Surface Treatment: Functional surface control of diffusion media and electrodes using electroless and electroplating technologies.
(3) Durability & Corrosion Analysis: Investigation of degradation mechanisms and enhancement of long-term stability through electrochemical corrosion testing.
(4) Materials for Advanced Electrochemical Systems: Development of key components for various electrochemical energy conversion devices .
