1. Introduction

MBF Labs ("we", "us", "our") built Feedora as a news and media app. Feedora lets you read newspapers and breaking news, browse a feed library, listen to podcasts, and stream internet radio.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have when you use Feedora (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Summary

• You can use many App features without signing in. In that case, most data stays on your device.

• If you sign in with Google, we sync your favourites across devices using Firebase.

• If you subscribe to Premium, purchases are processed by Google Play and subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, linked to your signed-in account.

• The free version shows ads through Google AdMob.

• We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information you provide

Google Sign-In (optional)

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive:

• Your Google account email address

• Your display name (if available from Google)

• A unique Firebase user ID used to identify your account in our systems

Sign-in is optional for basic use, but is required to subscribe to Premium and to sync your library across devices.

If you email us, we receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address and message content).

3.2 Information stored when you are signed in

When you are signed in, we store the following in Google Firebase Firestore under your user account to sync your library across devices:

• Newspaper favourites (newspaper identifiers)

• Podcast favourites (podcast title, RSS URL, image URL, and related identifiers)

• Radio favourites (station name, stream URL, country, and related station metadata)

• Feed Library favourites (RSS feed channel URLs)

• A timestamp of the last library update

We do not upload your full reading, listening, or browsing history to our servers.

3.3 Subscription and purchase information

If you purchase Feedora Premium:

• Payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.

• We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status and restore purchases. RevenueCat receives your Firebase user ID and subscription entitlement information from Google Play.

• Subscription status (for example, whether Premium is active) is used to unlock ad-free access and Premium features.

3.4 Push notifications

If you enable notifications, the App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). We may store:

• Your device's FCM token

• Your device time zone

• Whether breaking news notifications are enabled

• Your Firebase user ID (if you are signed in), linked to the device token

This information is used only to deliver notifications you have opted into.

3.5 Information collected automatically on your device

The App stores the following locally on your device (and does not upload it to our servers unless noted above):

• Favourite and recently used newspapers, podcasts, radio stations, and feed channels

• Podcast playlists, playback progress, and downloaded podcast episodes (stored on device storage)

• Filter and display preferences (country, language, theme, and similar settings)

• Cached news, RSS, podcast, radio, and feed catalog data

• App usage counters stored locally (such as articles read or podcasts listened to for profile statistics)

3.6 Information we do not collect

We do not intentionally collect:

• Precise GPS location

• Contacts, photos, or files outside what the App stores for its own features

• Microphone or camera recordings

• SMS messages

Your selected country or region preference is a setting you choose in the App; it is not precise location tracking.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide and improve App features (news, feeds, podcasts, radio, and web reading)

• Sync your favourites across devices when you are signed in

• Manage Premium subscriptions and restore purchases

• Deliver push notifications you have enabled

• Display advertisements in the free version of the App

• Respond to support requests

• Maintain security and fix technical issues

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Even without signing in, the App stores data locally using Android storage (Room database, DataStore, and app cache), including:

• Favourites and recent items

• Podcast downloads and playback progress

• Cached catalog and content data

• Your preferences and settings

Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data from your device. Data stored in Firebase under your signed-in account is not automatically deleted when you uninstall; see Section 10.

6. Internet Access and Third-Party Content

The App requires an internet connection for most features. When you use the App, your device may connect to:

• Newspaper and news websites you open in the in-app browser or external browser

• RSS and news aggregators (for breaking news and Feed Library articles)

• Podcast RSS feeds and podcast hosting servers (for streaming and downloads)

• Radio streaming servers and the Radio Browser directory API (https://www.radio-browser.info/)

• Google Translate (when you use translation features; article or page text may be sent to Google for translation)

• Image and favicon services (for logos and artwork)

Those third parties have their own privacy policies. We do not control how they handle data once you leave our App or when content is loaded from their services.

7. App Permissions

The App requests only the permissions needed for its features:

• Internet — Load news, feeds, podcasts, radio, ads, and cloud sync

• Network state — Detect connectivity and show appropriate messages

• Notifications — Deliver breaking news and podcast alerts you enable

• Foreground service (media playback) — Continue podcast and radio playback in the background

• Foreground service (data sync) — Sync podcast downloads and background tasks

• Phone state — Pause audio playback during phone calls

We do not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or precise location.

8. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

8.5 Google AdMob (Advertising)

The free version displays ads. AdMob may collect and use data such as:

• Device advertising ID

• IP address

• App interaction and diagnostic data

8.6 Google Play In-App Review API

Used to occasionally ask you to rate the App on Google Play. Google handles this interaction; we do not receive personal data from it.

Used when you translate articles or web pages. Text you choose to translate is sent to Google's translation service.

8.8 Coil (Image Loading)

Used to load images such as favicons and artwork from third-party URLs.

9. Advertising and Premium

• Free users may see banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads through AdMob.

• Premium subscribers receive ad-free access according to their active subscription.

• Subscription pricing, billing cycle, renewal, and cancellation are managed through Google Play. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local Data: Kept on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the App.

• Cloud Library Data: Retained while your signed-in account exists so sync can work across devices.

• FCM Device Records: Updated while notifications are enabled.

• Subscription Records: Retained as needed by Google Play and RevenueCat to manage billing and entitlements.

Sign out: You can sign out from the App at any time. Local data remains on your device; cloud data remains linked to your Firebase account.

Account Deletion: You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data.

• In-App: You can initiate immediate account deletion by going to the Profile screen in the App and selecting "Delete account". This will permanently remove your authentication record and synced reading/podcast history from Firebase.

• Web/Email Request: If you no longer have the App installed, you can request deletion of your account and cloud data by emailing us at newsworldreader@gmail.com. Please send the request from the email address associated with your Google account. We will process verified requests within 7 business days.

Data removed upon deletion: Upon account deletion, we permanently erase your Google UID, email address, profile name, and all synced reading and podcast statistics. Transaction records for subscriptions are maintained by Google Play for legal and tax compliance.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12. Data Security

We use industry-standard services (Google Firebase, Google Play, RevenueCat) to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.

13. International Users

Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States and other countries where Google and RevenueCat maintain infrastructure). By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
