The USS New Archton was the first Battleship for the UFP Navy, and the first all-gunnery vessel of the Federation Navy.
After the Federation had won back Lake Carriage from the Granache Tribe, the need was recognized by many in the High Command for a stronger naval presence at Navy Base One, and Lake Carriage as a whole. Gateway Shipbuilding Co. was contracted to build a class of three battleships, to be named New Archton, North Brazee, and Koshkonong State.
However, the class was cut short, as the threat of the Granache started to dissipate after the Treaty was signed between the two nations. Now, instead of three, the Federation canceled two of the ships, while leaving the half-completed New Archton to be completed.
Because the Federation High Command had previously cut funding and cardboard supplies to Gateway in favor of making more carriers (given instead to Burke Park Shipping Co.), the New Archton suffered early on from non-managed and low amounts of cardboard in her frame and bulkheads.
The New Archton was sailed as a part of a large flotilla of naval vessels from the states of Groom Lake, New Olympus, and New Archton, for which the ship was named. All in all, 10 vessels of various types sailed on Lake Carriage for a show of Naval Power over Spring Break.
The vessels were 1 battleship (New Archton), 1 Cruiser (Galesburg), 4 Adrian Schlafer-class Destroyers and 4 Saigon-class Sailing ships.
However, the faulty cardboard which had plagued the building of the ship from the beginning of it's construction got the better of it. The New Archton's second bulkhead burst underwater, and the ship capsized.
