Union Party (UFP)

       The Union Party of the United Federation, more simply the Union Party was a centre-left liberal political party in the United Federation. The Party was one of the major parties in the United Federation since it's creation and was, traditionally, considered to represent the largest electorate group in the UFP. The Party is the most successful in the Federation's history, electing 6 Presidents: Nicholas Lapord, Jacob Eiden, Andrew Anderson, Calvin Petri, Ethan Flood, and Alexander Knebel.

       The Union Party was for many different periods the only liberal political party in the United Federation. In terms of foreign policy, the Union Party historically supported alliances with other democratic powers, while rejecting the idea that new democracies are a threat to the United Federation or it's allies. It did, however, support major tariffs or sanctions against nations which do not conform to the Prairie Union's standards of democratic governance. 

The Party suffered irreperable damage at the hands of Alexander Knebel, who as President, took dictatorial powers before resigning in disgrace after the Imperial War ended in total failure. The Party was officially disbanded just after Prairie War III, when the council unanimously voted to disband. Elements of the Union Party would reform the old Pacifist Party, but the vast majority joined Jackson Deminsky's new Alliance Party, which is largely considered the spiritual successor.

Domestic Issues

Federal Government

     The Union Party officially supports federal system of the United Federation as it stands as of February 2020, with the exception of supporting an "Eternal Statehood" amendment which would make it legally void for states to declare independence.

The Economy

       The Union Party advocates the policies of Lapord Economics, specifically, the support and bolstering of State Economies from the Federal Government, and greater economic growth with new companies and current ones.

Budgeting

      The Union Party has had a mixed record on it's official budget positions. It has supported surplus budgeting since it's creation but has had multiple strategies, including cutbacks on Defense Spending or increased taxes on companies. The latter is the current official position.

LGBT+ Rights

     The Union Party is officially supportive of all LGBT+ issues as long as they align with the legality of the Federation.

International Issues

SPATO and the Prairie Union

     The Union Party is a major supporter of the Federation's continued membership in SPATO and was the first party in favor of the Prairie Union. 

Joint Military with Despa and New Washburn

      The Union Party supported the military merger with the Central Despan Republic and have been strong supporters of the alliance with both nations. 

Presidential Success

    The Union Party is the most successful party in Federal Politics by pure numbers, largely due to it's centrist base of support. Four members of the party have been elected to the Presidency, including two of the Federation's most highly-regarded Presidents. All Presidents are represented in the charts by blue except for Jacob Eiden, represented by Red.
