UFNS Hornet, CV-5, was an angled-deck aircraft carrier of the United Federation Navy. Designed and built by Gateway Corporation, it was the first angled-deck aircraft carrier built outside of Burke Park. The ship was commissioned just before the end of the Granache War.
The third Angled-Deck Carrier in the Federation, and the first "Supercarrier" in the fleet (although some might argue that the FDR class was the first), the Hornet was built for one purpose, to project Federation power. The Federation transitioned into the New Republic, Empire, Free Alliance, and finally the ship found her way into the hands of the United Sectors of New Archton. Once the Federation was restored, the Hornet was decommissioned, and was replaced by the USS Midway.
Despite a rocky start, the sale to the DPRG eventually went through, and the ship was given to Leader Gainey on a state visit.
