A series of filtered portraits of the Federation's Presidents.
The first President of the United Federation, John Banks-George served two, non-consecutive terms, but is most remembered for his first. He was previously a general of the air force in the Wars against Liam, and is today still a central figure in the Sun Prairie Nations.
The longest serving President in Federation History, Ainsley Wall was the first and only President to win two consecutive terms, serving for just over 6 months. She created the first legislature in the Federation, the High Command, though it was very unlike the modern High Command. She also personally led troops in the Granache War.
Ethan Moehr served for just under a month, and is not often remembered for his service. He surrendered to the United Colonies in order to prevent a civil war.
Chris Kukura was the President who served the shortest tenure, but his influence was not at all minor. He had a multitude of programs implemented that had long lasting effects on the Federation's military and culture, and was a major proponent of the State Council.
Carson Clumpner was one of the Federation's most influential Presidents. Coming to power in a tight election between himself and future president Calvin Petri, Clumpner was still able to unite the nation. He greatly expanded the Federation Empire, and brought the Federation into SPATO, on of the most important alliances in the Federation's History.
The Federation's most aggresive President, Conner Zink is well known for perhaps being one of the Federation's least liked Presidents. His economic policies, while at the start well sold, eventually led to the bankruptcy of 4 States, and his outdated military orders left the Federation with a large number of unserviceable aircraft. But his military genius is unquestionable - many of his strategies and tactics are still used today.
Seen by many as the Federation's Greatest President, Nicholas Lapord is hailed as a hero, and with much merit. His economic recovery, the "New Economy", gave the Federation the policies that it still holds to this day. In addition, his research and development programs helped to build the Federation Fleet into a massive power by the end of his term. President Lapord oversaw the economic prosperity of the Federation and the new alliances with Despa and Dauntless that helped to build cooperation on the international stage.
Christopher Fallis was the Federation's greatest upset. Winning an election by the skin of his teeth against the most popular President in Federation history, Christopher Fallis went on to become another amazing and influential President. He continued economic recovery started under Nicholas Lapord, and with the Union Forces, led the nation to victory in the First Great Prairie War.
An extremely relaxed President, Jacob Eiden was able to pass many programs that are today overlooked. He was a proponent of major international de-escalation, and was able to negotiate a peaceful end of the Valentino Border Crisis. He also passed the nuclear disarmament act, and the nuclear warhead destruction treaty, which mandated the destruction of all active warheads in the SPN, a major step to make the world safer.
Coming to power after the Madden Resignation, Addison Boott was able to halt a major recession and strengthened the unity of the Prairie Union. She also upped military production, a step that would be repeated by her successor.
The most recent of the "Greats" to leave office, Andrew Anderson was one of the most important Presidents in modern Federation History, and the History of the whole of the SPN. The first 2nd Generationer to be President and the first Openly Gay President of the United Federation, Andrew Anderson saw major military advancements and re-armament, finally bringing the Federation Fleet back up to over 100 aircraft. He also led the Federation through what many call it's darkest hour, during the Great Prairie War.
The first ever president of a consecutive party, following Anderson, Calvin Petri won the largest landslide in Federation history since John Banks-George, usurping even Nicholas Lapord's in 2018. His election followed the end of the Second Great Prairie War, and most of his term was occupied by major peacekeeping and international alliance formation. He was largely a popular president during his time and since, despite introducing no major legislation within his time.
As President, Jacob Monday helped greatly in the re-investment into the military research and development. He also led the way for major advancements in naval development especially, with a major fleet re-building program. In addition, he was able to build a legislative coalition to push through the largest economic and small business legislation in the Federations history, and he led the nation through the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, including the worst months of the pandemic. He opted not to run for a second term, despite a 100% approval rating from his tenure.
Caden Schwartz was elected the 15th President of the United Federation, and the first ever officially conservative President. Winning in a landslide against the historically popular Union Party, he flipped the orthodoxy of Federation politics on it's head, and as President, engaged in some of the most ambitious projects in the Federation's history. His crowning achievement in his own mind was the Prairie Union Space Agency and the Challenger Program, which saw the United Federation, West Mendota, and the Federal Wisconsinite Republic unite together in an effort to create a Space Program and Space Shuttle. Other notable achievements of the Schwartz Administration include the National Guard Reformation, breaking the 1-term tradition, and implementing (despite previously opposing) the Preferrential Voting System of the National Elections. In the waning times of his tenure, he attempted to run for a third term, but this was blocked by the Courts in New Illinois v. Caden Schwartz.
