Jackson Deminsky is a Federation Politician and Military Commander who famously served as the 21st and Final President of the United Federation. He previously served under Rydon Foldhazi as the 19th Vice-President and Lydia Guilford as the 25th Vice-President, as well as being the "legacy senator" for Kingstan since that state's founding. He is also one of only 3 people to have been appointed "Supreme Allied Commander," alongside Jacob Monday and John Banks-George. He also served as the 4th Prime Minister of the Coalition of the North, the last person to hold such office, and the only Coalition official to be elected President of the United Federation.
On the 11th of May, 2022, the State Council voted 143-1 to extend Deminsky's term in office a further 2 months in the wake of the universal agreement to end the Sun Prairie Nations. Thus, Deminsky became the final person to hold the office of President of the United Federation.
At the beginning of Prairie War III, Admiral Deminsky announced to the sailors of his 21st Fleet, one of the Standard Numerical Fleets of the United Federation Starfleet, his intention to defect to the service of the United Manonan States rather than serve under Madden's government any more. With its foundation, Deminsky became one of the members of the Federation Government-in-exile, speaking out fervently against Ryan Madden's fascist takeover and subsequent oppression of the people of the Federation. He became Lydia Guilford's Vice-President by a vote of the Exiled Council. He and Guilford's partnership, while brief, was one of the defining moments in his career. After the war, he founded the Alliance Party as a unified front to start a fresh movement after the Union Party and Conservative Parties both suffered serious reputation damage from Knebel and Madden respectively.
Deminsky's "Plea of Defection" delivered during one of the darkest periods of the war following the takeover of the FWR by the Reich and an uncertain future for the Allies, has become one of the most famous statements ever made in the Sun Prairie Nations. It was, apparently, written off the cuff by Deminsky, and inspired Banks-George, Monday, and Guilford to all write their own pleas for defection in a unified statement.
His most immediate actions as president included the complete reorganization of the United Federation National Guard and the ordering of a fleet of naval vessels in an effort to restore the Federation's power projection capability in the face of an increasingly hostile Despan Government. He continued to reinforce the Federation's reforged alliances with the United Manonan States and the West Mendotan Republic. This would later be aided with his signing of the International Committee Treaty, which established a system of international governance similar to, and eventually superseding, the authority of the Prairie Union Parliament.
Relations with the Federal Wisconsinite Republic were strained when Deminsky publicly announced his support for universal denuclearization, a stance latter backed up by the passage of (and his signature on) the Denuclearization Treaty of 2022. During his time in office, though notably not previously, Deminsky had a major partnership with his Vice-President, Madeline Caro of Vermillion. It was Caro who drafted the Denuclearization Treaty and the Fascism Prevention Bill.
Regarded as one of the more personally popular politicians in the Federation's history, Deminsky has been a member of many political parties throughout his career, including the Republicats, Democats, Pacifists, and the Union Party. This propensity to change party labels could have been seen in a poorer light by some, but for Deminsky, it seems to have been taken as a sign of a sort of pragmatic-optimism, wherein his party label changes, but his beliefs do not, and the jumping of party lines is an illustration of his views on best carrying out his Values.
In his election, Deminsky won a landslide of 71.4% of the Vote, and carried 37 States and the District of Cardinal Heights. His opponent, Luke Fischer, carried only 7 states. In addition, the new Alliance Party was voted into a solid majority without the need for a Coalition government.
Deminsky is also the founder, and still a minority owner of, the Kekistan Green Stockings Baseball Club, a.k.a. The Greens. The Greens are a member club of the Federation League of Baseball and Deminsky is known to closely follow the progress of the team. He had a strong hand in designing the stadium they play in for home games, Greenleaf Ballpark.
