The Bismarck-class Guided Missile Cruisers are a series of 6 cruisers of the Federation Navy which are highly capable and militarily advanced. The Cruisers were built by New Archton Shipyard, in the state of New Illinois.
After the sinking of the USS Des Moines, the Federation Navy was left with one cruiser, USS Springfield, and only other destroyers. The Navy Department ordered that a new design be drawn up for a Cruiser which would take over some Missile Deterrent roles. The design selected was a risk - it was far more complex than any previous cruisers, with a separate Missile Command Center deck and a radar mast atop this "Second Bridge".
The Design of the Bismarck-class is a dual-saigon-type hull, with a top deck-plate secured to the top, going all along the hull. At the bow is a five-inch deck gun, with the bridge deck behind it. Behind the bridge is a smaller bridge with the radar mast atop.
The first ship, USS Bismarck, was named for the Capitol City of North Dakota as well as the US Navy Transport USNS City of Bismarck.
