To help candidates prepare for the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Exam, GARP provides study materials, practice exams, and information on approved, third-party exam preparation providers. The following official resources are available to help candidates prepare for both parts of the FRM Exam.

The FRM Learning Objectives document provides a comprehensive framework to guide candidates as they self-study for the FRM Exam. In addition to the information contained in the books, the FRM Exam covers a selection of material from leading academics and practitioners. These online readings are a required part of the FRM curriculum.

As you prepare, GARP will highlight modules that appear on the FRM Exam to help you pace yourself through the exam material. These modules directly correspond to the FRM Study Guide and to the related readings in the official FRM books.

The CCM exam is practice-based, meaning all questions are based on the knowledge that an experienced case manager should know and understand. As an exam candidate, you are not required to take any course or purchase any study materials. Attending or purchasing any prep courses or study materials from the Commission is not a guarantee of passing the exam. Also, be aware that the Commission does not endorse or approve any materials other than those provided through the Commission, even though they may carry the CCM mark.

WSU study materials are to help people prepare for the Washington State Department of Agriculture pesticide license exams. The study manuals are a prerequisite for the WSU Pre-License Training courses. The courses are based on information from the study materials. It is strongly advised that you obtain and study these materials before taking a course. The study materials and reference books listed below are completely optional. Purchase and/or successful completion of exam review materials are not required in order to sit for the exam and they do not predict or guarantee a passing score on the exam. The exam consists of 160 multiple-choice questions that are job-related. There are 140 scored questions on the exam and 20 unscored items that are being pretested for use on future exams. Questions are based on professional situations in which a dietary manager would have to make a decision or solve a problem. The examinee must carefully read the scenario and select the appropriate response from among the multiple choices.

The CCM Study Guide provides detailed explanations of the application and examination processes, self-assessment exercises to help you understand how ready you feel you are for the CCM, tips to form an effective study plan, summaries of the subjects on the exam, a glossary of terms, and 50 practice questions (with answers, explanations, and references). The CCM Study Guide also includes recommendations for other CMAA and non-CMAA materials that may help you prepare for the test.

What should I know about the 2022 edition of the study guides?

The updates to Study Guide 1 are minor and mostly involve updating the examples, statistics and links, and some clarification of language. If candidates are already using the 2019 edition to prepare for CGFM exam 1, we do not suggest purchasing the 2022 edition.

Updates to Study Guide 2 are more extensive and involve a number of revisions in response to several federal regulations (including updates to lease and land standards (SFFAS 54 and 59), MD&A project and updates to A-136) and state and local regulations (including GASB statements 84-98, as applicable). If candidates want to use this study guide to prepare for CGFM exam 2, we suggest obtaining the 2022 edition for exams to be taken after July 2022. Alternatively, for those who already have the 2019 edition, we recommend supplementing it by visiting the applicable government sites to learn more about the recent regulation changes.

Please note that all references to the name and acronym for Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) were updated to the new name and acronym of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in all study guides, as applicable.

Do you sell just the updated pages of the printed study guides?

Since the updates often revise and move a large number of pages throughout the study guides, AGA does not offer specific updated pages.

If I plan to use the study guide to prepare for the CGFM examination, when should I buy the study guide?

AGA recommends that CGFM candidates obtain the most current edition of the study guide within 6 months of their planned examination date.

Are CGFM study guides required for CGFM examinations?

No. Neither CGFM study guides, nor CGFM courses are required to sit for the CGFM examinations. CGFM study guides and courses are separate from CGFM examinations and are based on the publicly-available examination content outlines.

Do the study guides cover all of the CGFM examination questions?

No. To ensure the CGFM examinations are fair and follow international certification standards, AGA separates the education (study guides and courses) from the certification (examinations) functions. The authors of the three study guides have no access to, or information about, the CGFM examination questions, except for what is specified in the publicly-available examination content outlines. The AGA study guides are not intended to offer answers to individual examination questions, but, instead, provide a general review of the topics covered in the examination content outlines.

After an application is approved, an applicant's name and address will be sent to Psychological Services Industry (PSI). PSI will mail the applicant a candidate handbook and study materials.
