Coach Mayer

     

     Coach Mayer is entering his 15th year of coaching high school and youth lacrosse in the Tampa area.   A native of Central New York, Dan graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School where he played for HOF Coach Tom Hall.  Dan has coached with several area club programs since 2009, including Clearwater Lacrosse, Bay Area Sand Sharks, Team Tampa and the STS-Tampa Tarpons.  Dan founded the Palm Harbor HS Lacrosse Club in 2010, and served as Head Coach for 5 years (2010-2012, 2016-17) leading the program to the league playoffs in 4 of 5 seasons, while compiling an overall record of 40-34.  Dan has been coaching at Calvary Christian HS since 2017 and has served as the Head Coach since 2019, with a record of 53-23 through the 2023 season.

     A Certified Coach with US Lacrosse and the Positive Coaching Alliance, Dan played college lacrosse for Division III Plymouth State University, and played collegiate club lacrosse for the University of Illinois during graduate school.  Dan and his family have attended Clearwater Community Church in Dunedin since 2000, where he has served as an Elder and Board member.  All of Coach Mayer’s boys have played lacrosse in youth programs and through high school, with the three oldest boys moving on to play at the collegiate level.  Dan, and his wife Lauren, reside in Palm Harbor with their six children (Nate, Elle, Katherine, Jon, Ben and Gabe).
