It correctly outputs to unity, however because it outputs to a prefab unity doesn't expose any import properties like it does with an fbx. As a result, things like scale have to be corrected as unity objects, which can cause problems when going from mm to meters as it increases double errors.

Edited:

Just found a way to have it to work. Into Unity psd importer, there is a tab "Layer Manager", You have to go there and "Merge" every layer. Apparently unity separate the content of every layer by default?

For the most part you will be using the Unity glTF exporter plugin to export your levels in PlayCanvas. That will take care of recreating the entities plus importing any required assets (models, materials, textures, animations).

The modifiers are a very convenient way to work within blender but other applications cannot work well with them ( UE, unity, A2F) so if you want to work with other applications is better think in terms of those applications.

So, I've been using blender for awhile for models & textures, and I want to export them into Unity so I can create collision meshes & more so I can finally put parts into the game. However, while I've been able to export .png textures, I haven't been able to export/convert .blend files into .FBX files. Every time I do, It says that blender has crashed, and that I need a version after 2.48, while I do have the latest version 2.70. I also have the latest version of unity.

Cant help with the blender but the part tools is easy, make sure you have the latest part tools which are a set of files not a unity package, once you have unzipped the package anywhere except in unity, create a file in your assets folder called Plugins and simply drag and drop the items contained in the unzipped folder into the Plugins folder in your unity project , unity will the import the files as shown by a dialogue box on screen

I watched a video once and I believe the correct approach is the import the mesh then attach the texture in the mesh in unity separatly. In the properties of the mesh there is a square thingy where you drag-drop the image.

Pretty straight-forward. Exporting a simulation using the obj exporter generates a separate file for every frame of the animation (if the "Animation" option has been toggled in the export options). Drag all these files into your Unity project (eg. into Assets/Models/MyAnimation). Then write a simple script to swap the mesh of the GameObject at runtime.

Thanks to the Blender Community (especially the users chipmasque and enzyme69) I was pointed towards a third possible solution, which is MetaMorph. It's a Unity script and a Blender export addon which allows you to export shape-keys from Blender and play them in Unity. While there seems to be some issues with getting a shape-key animation from an explosion, it should work fine for other types of simulations and other shape-key driven animations (eg. facial animations/morphs etc.).

Using my plugin Exporter for Unreal to Unity 2023 | Integration | Unity Asset Store You can export entire levels to unity including static meshes with LODs, collision shapes, actor placement, decals, spline meshes, skinned meshes with animations, terrain, materials & textures.

You will have to Bake the material before you can use it in unity. Specifically the color data from the material.

Well what pass holds the color data? That depends on how your material is set up. You might have to bake a Diffuse pass, a Glossy pass, or an Emission pass (those are the three most common passes, but there are 11 total passes).

In unity import your mesh then add the texture to it. Now click on your object and scroll down till you see your texture/material. Click on the image near the small texture/material preview then drag your 'normal' image into the 'normal map' section. This should bring in some detail you find when rendering in blender.
