Favour Ohaezu graduated a semester early with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a concentration in Molecular and Cellular Biology, in December 2025, and is now working full time as a lab manager at the University of Michigan. She was honored as the Outstanding Graduating Student in both the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She also served as the Fall 2025 keynote speaker for the international graduation ceremony.
During her undergraduate, she conducted research for over two years focused on characterizing myosin7A genetic mutations associated with autosomal dominant hearing loss, and she successfully defended her honors thesis. She presents her work confidently and genuinely enjoys scientific communication.
Alongside her academics and research, she has taken on multiple leadership roles in various organizations, which have enabled her to grow personally and professionally. These experiences continue to shape her passion for making a meaningful impact in science and healthcare.
She has been recognized with multiple awards, including The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Pioneer and Excellence Award and the Ebeid STEM Scholarship, reflecting her outstanding leadership, research, and academic abilities.
She was awarded the Russell J. Ebeid Family Fund STEM Scholarship, a highly competitive and prestigious scholarship awarded to exemplary students pursuing STEM disciplines. This distinguished honor recognized her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to community engagement.
