Welcome to FASTURA ("we", "our", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the FASTURA mobile application (the "App") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using FASTURA, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
FASTURA is an educational intermittent-fasting companion. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Account information: email address and, if you choose, a display name (via Firebase Authentication).
Profile data: gender, age, height, current weight, target weight, activity level, fasting experience, diet preference, wake and sleep times, and your chosen fasting plan.
Lifestyle and fasting data: fasting sessions (start time, duration, plan), water intake, logged meals, mood entries, weight history, and notes you add.
AI chat messages: questions and messages you send to the in-app AI Fasting Coach.
Support communications: emails, feedback, and in-app support messages you send us.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Device and diagnostic information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, timezone, and general region (derived from IP — we do not collect precise GPS location).
Usage data: which screens you view, features you use, session duration, and interaction events.
Crash data and performance metrics.
Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS): collected only with your explicit consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
1.3 Optional Apple Health / HealthKit Data
If you grant permission, FASTURA reads limited health data from Apple HealthKit, including step count and sleep data, to personalize your fasting insights. HealthKit data stays on your device and is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties except as needed to operate the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and personalize the fasting, nutrition, and AI coach experience.
Generate AI responses to your chat messages via Google Gemini.
Calculate general lifestyle metrics (e.g., BMI, suggested water intake) for informational purposes only.
Send fasting milestone, water, streak, mood, motivation, and nutrition push notifications that you enable.
Deliver advertisements to free-tier users (via Google AdMob).
Manage and verify your subscription status (via RevenueCat and Apple).
Diagnose crashes, monitor performance, and improve stability.
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
Respond to your support inquiries and customer service requests.
Comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
FASTURA relies on trusted third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

AI chat messages are processed server-side by Google Gemini to generate responses. We do not use your chat content for advertising.
AI Fasting Coach — Google Gemini
When you use the AI Fasting Coach, the following data is transmitted to Google LLC via the Gemini API (through our Firebase Cloud Function) solely to generate a response:
• The message text you type
• Non-medical profile context: age, gender, height, current and target weight, activity level, diet preference, fasting goal, wake/sleep hours
• Fasting context: current plan, streak, total fasts, recent sessions, current fasting stage
• Today's logs: water intake, mood, meals, steps, sleep hours
The following are never sent to Google Gemini: your email or account credentials, medical conditions or medication data, saved photos, payment information.
Before the first AI Coach message is sent, FASTURA shows an in-app consent screen that names Google Gemini as the recipient and lists the data categories above. No data is transmitted until you tap "Accept & continue." You may withdraw consent anytime by clearing app data or reinstalling.
Google processes each request only to generate the AI response. Google does not use FASTURA conversations to train its models. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms of Service.
We do not use AI chat content for advertising.
4. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS 14.5 and later, we ask your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before your advertising identifier (IDFA) is shared with AdMob for personalized advertising. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your IDFA.
You can change your decision anytime: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → FASTURA.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these cases:
With service providers listed above, strictly to provide the App's functionality and bound by data-protection agreements.
For legal reasons, to comply with applicable law, regulation, court orders, or valid legal requests.
To protect rights and safety, of FASTURA, our users, or the public.
In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, in which case you will be notified in advance.
6. Data Retention
Account and profile data: retained while your account is active, plus up to 30 days after account deletion.
Fasting, nutrition, water, and mood logs: deleted immediately when you use "Delete All My Data" in the App (Settings → Delete All My Data).
Aggregated analytics: retained for up to 14 months (Firebase Analytics default).
Crash data: retained for up to 90 days (Firebase Crashlytics default).
Encrypted backups: overwritten within 35 days of deletion.
AI chat messages: retained on-device in your conversation history; server-side, they are not stored beyond the processing required to generate a response.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your region, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data directly in the App or by contacting us.
Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete All My Data, or email us).
Object to or restrict processing, including opting out of analytics or ads.
Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent you previously gave, without affecting prior lawful processing.
You can also control notifications, tracking, and health data permissions through your iOS Settings.
For EU / EEA / UK Residents (GDPR)
Our legal bases for processing are:
Consent — for advertising, tracking, and optional health data.
Contract — to provide the App and process subscriptions.
Legitimate interest — for analytics, security, and product improvement.
Legal obligation — where required by law.
For California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not sell or "share" (as defined under CPRA) your personal information. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination. To exercise these rights, email us.

8. Children's Privacy
FASTURA is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The App's content rating is 12+ and requires users to acknowledge a medical disclaimer before continuing.
For users aged 13–17, we strongly recommend parental or guardian supervision. The in-app AI Fasting Coach will decline to give prescriptive fasting advice to users who identify as minors. Intermittent fasting and extended fasting plans (OMAD, 20:4, 23:1) are not recommended for anyone under 18 without medical supervision.

9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:
TLS 1.2+ encryption for all network communications.
Firebase App Check to protect our backend from abuse.
Server-side API keys stored in Firebase Functions secrets — no sensitive keys ship inside the app binary.
Encrypted local storage (Hive encrypted boxes) for sensitive on-device data.
Firebase Authentication with secure, time-limited tokens.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers (Google, Apple, RevenueCat) operate. We rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and recognized safeguards to ensure your data receives adequate protection.
11. Medical Disclaimer
FASTURA is an educational companion, not a medical device or healthcare service. Its content is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Do not start a fasting plan, and consult a qualified healthcare professional first, if you are:
Pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
Under 18 years of age
Living with diabetes, kidney, liver, heart, or thyroid disease
Taking prescription medication
Recovering from or at risk of an eating disorder
Underweight (BMI below 18.5)
If you experience dizziness, fainting, severe hunger, or any other concerning symptom, stop fasting immediately and contact a doctor. In a mental-health crisis, call your local emergency number or visit findahelpline.com. FASTURA cannot and does not provide crisis support.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App and/or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of FASTURA after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
