The Farragut Fox Village
Let's create a positive learning environment for ALL!
As we begin the school year, we are reminded of the magic of this community. It has been created over many years by many, many wonderful people for over 70 years. In their honor, we carry the torch and continuously improve our student’s experience. Let's work together, listen, and find solutions that will make this village the best it can be.
Our hope is this page will become a weekly stop for you. Our About us page will be updated regularly with the goal to give you a deeper understanding of the Farragut program.
Our Events and Get Involved pages, we will share upcoming opportunities to participate in our Village and enjoy the experience!
Our vision for 2024-25:
We will listen and use our strengths to help others
Our restorative practices will strengthen and create a safe space for all
We will establish clear systems and procedures to minimize confusion
We will engage families to understand our process
We will establish trust
Principal's Message 9/23
Dear Fox Families,
We had such an exciting week! On Monday, we had our elections, and on Wednesday, we were happy to celebrate our student executive officers, Rose, Primo, Judah, and Julliet, and our class reps at our Monthly Assembly. Thanks to all the students and families who participated. We also honored our TK and Kindergarten PAWS award honorees. It was moving to watch how loud our older Foxes cheered for them.
It has been roughly four months since we began our "It Takes a Village" campaign, and we had a great reflection session yesterday at our Coffee and Chat. We toured our new website, where we have added our Box Out Bully presentation. We were also happy to celebrate our 2nd VIP recess with Ms. Purcell and Ms Vy's class.
As we move into October, our Village recognizes our community's wide range of learners as part of Disability Awareness Month. It is important to note that not all disabilities are visible, and we must be mindful and supportive of EVERY Fox. To kick us off, we are excited to host the Jazz Hands for Autism assembly on Wednesday. It is important to take some time this month to talk with your students about how to celebrate our differences.
This week, we will begin work on replacing the roof in our center building. We are hoping to have this completed by early November and prevent the leaks we had in the past. We are also hosting our Walkers and Rollers for a lunchtime assembly on 10/7, leading to the celebration of our International Walk to School day on 10/9.
Lastly, for our parents with evening bandwidth, we are hosting a New Parent Volunteer Orientation on Zoom on Wednesday at 7 pm at this link. We have needs for our Yard Duty, Breakfast Club, and classroom activities on campus and would love your support! We have all our opportunities updated weekly on our Get Involved Page, but here is a summary with links:

2024 Principal PAWS
Ms. Yona Feleke in Ms. Manglinong's 5th grade classroom. She came on Saturday and had a tremendous impact on the campus beautification efforts. On behalf of our school and FanClub leadership, we would like to thank Yona for modeling student service to the community. While she has not decided to run for Student Leadership, she has been a great help as "campaign advisor" to her peers who have decided to enter the race. We are so lucky to have Yona in our village!
Ms. Sasha Huber, in Ms. Bark's class, has been recognized by her peers as someone who you can count on to have your back. She is helpful, empathetic and has a wonderful attitude about life. We are lucky to have her in our Fox Village!!

HUGE shout out to FanClub leaders Sara, Annika, Ally, Angela, Jim and Kristine for putting this together. We were also very grateful to CCUSD Board Member Brian Guerrero for joining us and putting some hard work on the back tables and sheds. Thanks to all the families who attended. We are very lucky to have this spirit of service at Farragut!

iReady Fall Benchmark in full swing!
Has your child mentioned iReady? Recently, Farragut students in grades 1 - 5 have been taking math and reading Diagnostic Assessments using a district approved program called iReady. These diagnostic assessments give us a better understanding of what our foxes currently know, and what they don’t know… yet!
The Beginning of the Year diagnostic window for students in grades 1 - 5 is August 26th - September 30th. Kindergarten students will take the diagnostic assessments from September 16th - October 4th. Diagnostic assessments happen 3 times per year (once each trimester) to track learning and growth.
So, if your student mentions iReady (and mentions the diagnostic tests seemed kind of hard) it is perfectly okay! iReady is just one part of the data our amazing Farragut teachers and support staff use to inform the next steps in their teaching.
Want to check out iReady at home? Once your fox has completed their diagnostic, they will be able to navigate “My Path” to play games and practice necessary skills for continued learning at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions about using iReady at home. You can also learn more about the Family Resources that are available in iReady using this link: https://i-readycentral.com/familycenter/
Student Leadership
In reflecting with our staff and PBIS team, the school has decided to move toward LinHowe's model for student leadership. We will be presenting new elected roles for 4th and 5th grade, which we will call the "Executive Branch." In addition, we will have class representatives in grades 3rd through 5th, which will make up our "Legislative Branch."
Once formed, our student leadership will invite our Green team, Peace Keepers and other groups invited to meet and discuss their plans and goals. Our goal is to empower our students and give them more voice around our campus. More information below:
