Farm Frenzy: Gone Fishing takes the Farm Frenzy series in a slightly new direction: to the water! Instead of messing about with chickens, cows, and sheep, your new friends are fish of all types (and maybe even a mammal). While the basic set-up remains the same, the new visual direction breathes a bit of life into the game, and as always, a Farm Frenzy title is bound to keep you busy for many afternoons on end.

The same distractions and dangers are also abound in Farm Frenzy: Gone Fishing, including (quizzically), bears. Even in shallow waters bears will drop from the sky and terrorize your fish, knocking away your valuable egg-layers unless you click and cage them as soon as possible. The upgrade shop is still available between levels, allowing you to purchase refining stations or upgrade your warehouse, ship, helicopter, and bear cage to be more efficient. Patience, though, as you'll need to claw your way through a dozen or more levels before you can go on a purchasing spree.

Technique for Scattering the Fish: When scattering the fish, be sure to place the fish low on the screen, right on top of the warehouse and to the right of the farm area. This will keep your animals away from the bears, for the most part. The bears usually come down near the top and left of the farm area.

The screenshot below shows optimum fish placement. The first bear has landed to the top left. You can see the shadow of the second bear that will fall in the middle. Although the penguin has wandered near the top of the screen, it will normally move to the right or will go back towards the fish. Get the bears that are closest to your animals first.

20. For completing a level without using any tips. Level 6 is good for this. Go back to it after you have gold, and play clicking very carefully. Be sure the well is full or has at least 3 units of fish in it at any time, in case you accidentally click over or beside a bear.

Capture the bears and warehouse them 2 at a time. Do not cage them on the farm area; they will break out, and you will need the money from them. Let them wander around; there are no animals yet, so they are not hurting anything.

Note: This level can be very frustrating, as the bears like to attack in the middle and lower center of the farm area, and you can be several minutes into the game, and still have to restart because a bear tosses a walrus. You might even start wondering why you are trying to get this level for only 150 stars, and you already have all the upgrades, but keep in mind the award for getting all gold rankings J.

I have found that by limiting to having only 6 walruses keeps them out of the way of the bears, for the most part. Also, be very careful to always water low and to the right of the farm area. When the bears fall, capture them in order by closest to the walruses to the farthest away. Click on them and cage them as fast as possible; you can always "clean up" and put them in the warehouse once they are immobilized.

The College of William and Mary Research Team

We have always had a few nest boxes but in 2005 Dan Cristol, Chancellor Professor of Biology from the College of William Mary asked us if we would participate in a research project to study the biomagnification of mercury up the food chain. He and his students put up hundreds of nest boxes along the Middle, South, and North Rivers in Augusta County. On our farm, they added thirty nest boxes to the ones we already had.
