Dr. phil. des. Farah Hasan

I am a sociologist with a focus on the role of religion in contemporary societies.

My research explores how religious identities and practices shape, and are shaped by, social phenomena. I have conducted studies and fieldwork in several countries, which has helped me develop a comparative understanding of lived religion.

In April 2025, I completed my Dr. Phil. as part of the Transformative Religion International Research and Training Group, graduating summa cum laude. My doctoral research introduced a new way of conceptualising Muslimness through the theory of Epistemic Entanglements.

This homepage shares information about my research and publications for those interested in the study of religion and society.
