If you want a high-mount brake light that flashes to grab attention during winter driving, choose FANTELI 912; if you need maximum visibility for rear lighting on a specific Subaru Legacy with crisp daylight output, choose losenmatit 3157. These two bulbs solve different problems in the same category of safety upgrades. One is designed to scream "I'm stopping" with a unique strobe pattern, while the other is engineered to flood your rear end with intense, cool-white illumination for a wider field of view. Both claim significant brightness improvements over stock halogens, but their design philosophies diverge sharply regarding color temperature, beam pattern, and vehicle compatibility.
• FANTELI 912: The standout strength is its intelligent strobe flash design that triggers three legal blinks before stabilizing, offering superior noticeability in heavy traffic or poor weather; however, it is strictly limited to third-brake-center applications and runs a warm red tone.
• losenmatit 3157: The primary advantage is its massive 6000-lumen output and 6000K cool-white daylight color, providing exceptional clarity for workspaces and garages alongside a perfect fit for specific Subaru models; the trade-off is the lack of a flashing function and a specific model restriction.
• Best For: Choose FANTELI 912 if you are upgrading a center high-mount stop light where visibility and warning signals matter most; choose losenmatit 3157 if you own a 2000–2004 Subaru Legacy and need a bright, reliable replacement for standard brake lights.
The FANTELI 912 is built for drivers who prioritize being seen above all else, particularly when conditions turn slick or visibility drops. This bulb utilizes a T15 W16W form factor designed specifically for the third brake light, also known as the Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL). Its most defining feature is the strobe flashing design. When you hit the brakes, the bulb doesn't just glow; it pulses three times rapidly before settling into a steady, brilliant red state. This sequence is intended to catch the eye of drivers behind you more effectively than a static light, potentially reducing rear-end collisions in stop-and-go winter traffic.
The engineering behind this unit focuses heavily on efficiency and longevity without sacrificing intensity. It packs 21 pieces of 2835-SMD LEDs into a compact housing, claiming a brightness level 300% higher than traditional halogen bulbs. This isn't just about raw power; it is about how that power is distributed. The 360-degree full-angle light ensures that no matter the angle of the car behind you, the red light is visible. Furthermore, the non-polarity design means you do not need to worry about the orientation of the plug when installing. You can simply pop it in, and it works immediately, which is a huge relief for anyone who has struggled with finicky bulb sockets in tight spaces.

However, this product is not a universal solution. It is explicitly marketed for the third brake light position, meaning it will not replace your main tail lights or side markers. If you are looking for a bulb to upgrade your entire rear lighting system, this is the wrong tool. Additionally, the Brilliant Red color is fixed; it does not offer the option for white or amber. It is a specialized component for a specific location on your vehicle, designed to make your braking signal unmistakable through sheer visual urgency rather than broad area illumination.
The losenmatit 3157 takes a completely different approach by focusing on raw luminous output and color temperature, catering specifically to owners of the Subaru Legacy from the years 2000 to 2004. Unlike the FANTELI, which relies on a dynamic flashing pattern, this bulb aims to overwhelm the darkness with sheer volume of light. With a staggering 6000 lumens and a 6000K cool-white spectrum, it mimics daylight. This makes the rear of the vehicle appear significantly brighter and clearer to following drivers, especially in low-light winter mornings or under streetlights where red lights might blend into the background noise of city traffic.
Durability and efficiency are central to its value proposition. The bulb houses 45 premium-quality 4014 SMD chips, which drive the high lumen count while keeping energy consumption relatively low at just 6 watts per bulb. This is a stark contrast to older technology, promising a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. That level of longevity suggests you will likely never have to buy another set of these bulbs for the life of your vehicle. The 360-degree beam angle ensures that the light wraps around the lens evenly, eliminating dark spots that can sometimes occur with lower-quality LED replacements.
The critical constraint here is vehicle specificity. The product data clearly states it is designed for the Subaru Legacy 2000–2004 models. While the 3157 base is common, the projector and optical design mentioned in the features suggest a tailored fit for that specific generation of Subaru. If you drive a Ford, Toyota, or any other brand, this bulb may not seat correctly or provide the intended optical effect. It is a direct replacement part that prioritizes a 1:1 real size match and plug-and-play installation, ensuring that the upgrade process is seamless for the compatible owner. It is an ideal choice for someone who wants their rear lights to look modern and crisp, replacing the often dim or yellowed factory units of older cars.
• Best for Winter Driving Warning Signals → FANTELI 912, due to its mandatory strobe flash pattern that actively alerts drivers in snow and rain.
• Best for Raw Brightness → losenmatit 3157, which delivers 6000 lumens compared to the FANTELI's 1100 lumens per bulb.
• Best Color Temperature → losenmatit 3157, offering a 6000K cool white that cuts through fog better than the warm red of the FANTELI.
• Best for Universal Compatibility → FANTELI 912, as it fits multiple socket types (T15, 906, 904, 902) whereas losenmatit is locked to specific Subaru models.
• Best for Longevity → losenmatit 3157, with a rated lifespan of 50,000 hours versus the FANTELI's 30,000 hours.
• Best for Energy Efficiency → FANTELI 912, dropping from 16w to 4.5w, though both are efficient compared to halogens.
• Best for Third Brake Light Only → FANTELI 912, as it is physically sized and designed exclusively for the CHMSL.
• Best for Main Rear Light Replacement → losenmatit 3157, designed to replace the standard 3157 bulbs in the tail light assembly.
In my opinion, I would buy the FANTELI 912 if my goal was purely safety enhancement for a center brake light, because the strobe function provides a psychological edge in preventing rear-end accidents. However, for the broader context of winter driving visibility across the entire rear of a 2000–2004 Subaru Legacy, I recommend the losenmatit 3157. The combination of 6000 lumens and 6000K daylight white creates a much safer visual profile for the whole vehicle in snowy conditions, making the car stand out against the white landscape far better than a single red point of light. The FANTELI is a tactical tool for one spot, but the losenmatit is a strategic upgrade for the whole ride.
Both products mention compliance with legal blinking times for the FANTELI and standard 3157 specifications for the losenmatit, but local laws vary; always verify your regional regulations regarding colored lights and flashing patterns.
No, both bulbs feature non-polarity designs and plug-and-play installations, meaning they fit directly into existing sockets without requiring additional wiring modifications or resistor kits.
The FANTELI 912 operates at 4.5 watts and claims a lower surface temperature of 150°F compared to halogens, while the losenmatit 3157 runs at 6 watts; both are significantly more energy-efficient than traditional bulbs.
No, the FANTELI 912 is designed specifically for the third brake light (CHMSL) and features a strobe pattern that is inappropriate for constant tail light operation.
