Written in 2003 during my postdoctoral years at Harvard University, Climbing High breaks with the traditional melancholy of autumn mountain-climbing poems and instead embraces an upbeat perspective on the autumn landscape and the fleeting nature of youth.
莫叹秋残断雁哀,
携歌载酒且登台。
弹云压浪江天阔,
扫郁消愁心地开。
落木散风凭漫野,
少年意气复萦怀。
今宵醉卧霜林月,
万里星河入梦来。
